Barchetta nose badly stone chipped!

Hi, My Barchettas nose was really badly stone chipped. They were all touched in with paint but a few were as big as your little finger nail and it looked unsightly and let the car down. Anyway i got Nick Thorne (Ashford Kent area) out from ChipsAway.co.uk and he repainted the nose and touched in little chips properly on the lower bonnet. What a difference it has made having the front smooth and shiny again. Also the new paint is harder than the acrylic original soft paint so hopefully some stones will bounce off and not dig in and chip off the new hardened paint. ChipsAway come out and paint using heat lamps and a marquee if the weather is poor. They mix the paint in there mobile lab in the back of the van getting the correct mix from the numbers on the underside of the hood cover panel in my case it was 1997 Nero 601 black. The nose took around half a day to complete and blends in perfectly. The cost is around a third of what a coachworks garage would pay in my case £100 plus vat!

Hi
I think all B owners know and suffer with the stone chip problem,
I had a few bits of paintwork that needed a some love as well as a lot of stone chips on the bonnet from the 118000K my B has done over the last 6 years. I found a guy who new his stuff so I had a re-spray / blow over and all looks FAB now, Cost me £400 in the end but it looking like new now and I am please as punch.

The new paint was a much harder compound then the old Fiat tree loving stuff and the bonnet has been fine ever since.

Question Re: Barchetta nose badly stone chipped!

Something to think about,

I have been on the look out for a crashed B for parts and one thing kept coming up, 95% of the B's I looked at had been crashed at the front!! I have only seen one that was hit up the bum and thats on ebay at the mo (Silver one)

So why do you think this is ?

Re: Barchetta nose badly stone chipped!

Hi,

I have recently bought a 1997 blue B and im just trying to get through the odd little problems to make her 100% Aswell as the stone chipping on the nose which is quite bad in places the car has some quite noticible sun fading on top of the rear wings and a small patch on the boot!! I took her to the dent/scatch doctor who basically said she needs a full spray as the panels of the car on the B are too big ?????? does anyone know anybody up north that does good spay jobs as ive been quoted £1200 for a full respray and to sort a couple of dinks.

Cheers

Hazel x

The owners were fumbling with their PDA-route planners?

The barchetta is better in accelerating than decelerating?

I once had a friend who bought an AR Spider; he was so much in shock and awe about all the controls and buttons [his father drove a honda civic II]
that he saw the truck in front of him too late. Luckily this happened at low speed
