Has anybody had any luck replacing the front speakers recently? One of mine has developed a crackle, have taken the door trim off and it's definitely the speaker.

I'm quite happy with the original ones as don't use the radio all the time. I know there was an Infinity set that fitted a while back but think our of production now, have seen these which seem ok but wanted to check as know they need need to quote slim to fit in the doors

When you say you had to take the door trim off do you mean the tweeter is faulty? My '96 B has tweeters in the door and larger (bass?) speakers in the sides of the footwell. The link to E-bay shows unknown brand speakers at 52 quid which isn't a lot of money. I recently replaced my Corsa speakers with Pioneer bass/tweeter units costing £95 and couldn't really hear the difference! Was tempted to fit the same in the B but probably won't bother. Above 50mph with roof down I can't hear the radio anyway! You obviously need to replace because of the crackle though. I would spend a bit more money and go for known brands i.e. Pioneer, JBL, Alpine etc.

Or maybe you could go for this setup!
