hi, whenever I have disconnected my battery and reconnect I have had no problems with the key or starting. The first few miles after reconnecting the battery may show different throttle reactions to your imput while the adaptive program re-adjusts to the driving and fueling. I sometimes get hesitancy on the throttle and it settles down after a few miles and a couple of stop starting cycles.

My battery is disconnected for 6 months at a time during winter storage (it prevents run-down by alarm, radio memory, clock etc.). The car is in a secure garage. I do, however, charge it once a month because its bad for the battery to let it drop below 80% charge. Have not noticed any difference on the first run but I do believe that ECU learns your driving style.

I park my B inside every year in early November and start it in late April or early May.Its inside with a hundred other cars, mostly classics and sports cars which remain inaccessible to their owners over the winter.I disconnect the battery every time and so far(knock on wood) there has never been a problem. We have a small disconnect which works extremely well. Its called a Top Post Battery Cut Off Switch, from Princess Auto.$10.00 Check it out
