I was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head what the B's sweet spot is .... i.e. what speed is ideal to get maximum fuel efficiency out of the engine on a long drive ?

Hi, I think 4200rpm is the maximum torque so around that area should give the best compromise with speed and economy.

Yes, this, hood down, hat on.......

roof up/ windows closed and at 70km/h so it sits barely at 2k rpm.
But I don't think you wanted to hear that? gets around 6litres/100km with that combo.
Either way barchetta drinks petrol like crazy for such a small car!

Hi, last year I drove 1100kms from germany to SW France using the autoroutes at 4000rpm (85mph approx) mostly and returned 34mpg.

Iforgot to add that it is all downhill from NW Germany to the SW France.

I run the 401 regularly at a buck thirty, any slower you'll get run over. Can't remember the rev count, I think around 3600 but it runs like a top and purrs like a kitten. We have a Dodge pickup and a Honda Crosstour and the little B sips fuel compared to the other two.
