Ok not much of a mechanic but I do love my 2001 B so I was wondering if any of the wiser barchetta elders out there could help me pinpoint the reason my B has from time to time lost almost all power ( I mean 0 acceleration) temporarily , I thought at first it may have been dirty injectors but they have been cleaned and my spark plugs have also been changed . The car doesn't lose electrical power just the accelerator seems to do nothing and then it may or may not allow me to chug along but at considerably less power .I was thinking it must be something to do with a MAF sensor but not being much of a mechanic I thought I'd ask you guys and girls first .

Thanks

I there ! "Hermano"
If the mecanical parts like the throtle cable and buterfly body are allrigth , The best way for having a clue is to diagnose it with MES !
A MAF or lambda problem is quite plausible...

I thought fuel pump but it's never had any problem starting ...when it cuts out it's usually after about 20 - 30 mins .... and the pump doesn't make any strange noises

After that long? So, longer than it needs to get fully warm? That would seem to rule out anything to do with temp & emissions sensors, I'd have thought?

Pour it all in and drive some 200km, It clears all my troubles with my barchetta after every winter after it has sat for 6months untouched.. Have similar problems to yours as well that I can't just pinpoint, the redex has so far worked 3 times out of 3 I have used.
Hopefully this year it will also do the trick :D

cheers I've used a similar product to clean the injectors and had the injectors cleaned at a garage a few weeks ago (they wire it upo to some machine ) so I'm not sure it'sann injector thing

Ok You're not going to believe this ...after rolling it over in my head and due to a total lack of money for garage bills I decided to have a pop at cleaning the MAF ..... so I'm all ready after the build up and feelin like a total grease monkey ...locate the tube connecting to the MAF and find this right across the air intake of the sensor

battery is for scale

I think this may very well have something to do with the problem
