Hi - to all those who have a hard top - preferably those with a facelift version 2003 onwards please?

If I fit a hardtop do I need to buy 'hardtop holders' as described for sale on Henks Barchetta parts website? - see attached.

Also, is anyone aware of one for sale - see my wanted post.

Many thanks all.

I don't have the fixing-brackets for mine, which worried me initially, but the hard-top clamps down so tight that I've never considered it a problem. Also, it must be a complete pain trying to locate the pins on the hard-top into the sockets. You can't easily locate them by sight, and attempting to do so by feel, or by guesswork, must present a high risk of scratching the paintwork while trying to manoeuvre the hard-top in place (it's heavy - a two-person job).

I have a silver hard-top which I've used three times in 10 years, and which is currently gathering dust and swallow-sh*t in my barn (well, the cover is gathering dust etc!). I've toyed with selling it to pay for a new soft-top, but haven't done so because there's always a chance that circumstances might change, and that one day I might need/want to use the car in all weathers (it hasn't gone out in the wet since I bought it!)

Mine's a 1998 - I'm not sure if the fixings or design of the hard-top changed whit the face-lift, but I doubt it.

Many thanks for the advice - much appreciated.

Let me know if you change your mind about yours - would be willing to try it on mine and make an offer!

My car is a 98 model, the brackets keep the hard top slightly off the tonneau cover protecting it from direct contact. They are easy to locate as long as you are patient.

Aha! I didn't know that. Presumably the rubber seal is a good enough fit to keep the wet stuff out? It also makes the placing of the brackets absolutely critical. Are the holes pre-drilled, I wonder?

The holes were in place in my car - not supplied with hard top. The rubber seal is a good enough seal once you adjust the prongs! I know someone who could put their Barchetta through a car wash with no water ingress when the hard top was in place!

Hi, I have recently put my hard top on, it is a Mark 11. I have just been out to have a look at the fixings. The spike part of the hardtop looks to fit in-between the body and a small flat rectangular bar with a slight V cut out in the middle. This is held in place by two bolts at either end of the bar. The spike of the hardtop sits in and can be seen through the V. The part you have pictured looks to be specially designed and engineered to replace it.

Many thanks for the replies - I have found one which I am collecting next week.

There will then be a new thread as it is quite a special one (y)

Cheers.
