Hello to all!

My -97 Barchettas engine got broken and it was cheaper to change whole motor. Everything went ok, but now i have problem:

- when battery is connected fuel injection symbol is on all the time, light is off when you unplug cable/battery
- Immobilizer light is on when turning key, startmotor starts, but car dosen't start, so immobilzer is on. Fuel pump dosen't give any sound when you turn electrity on with key.

Battery is full and there wasen't any this kind of problem before new engine. What went wrong?

I'd be very grateful any hint/tip!

Cheers
Larry

It seems to me that by changing the engine you didn't keep the old ECU ?? Is it the case ??
Because if it is , the ECU from engine it's not pair with the imobilizer and doesn't recognise the kee , as result the engine wont start because the injection bloked by ECU , that also explains the injection and the immo ligth allways on !

Re: Fuel injection & immobilizer light dosent go off

well that sounds logical! Where I can find ECU from old engine? Is it
mechanical box or part or do I have to encode to new engine?

-Larry

EDIT:
i googled ECU location, and its not a part of the engine. So likely there didn´t came new ECU with new engine. Only cables are unplugged/plugged back when engine was changed, i think so. I have to check cable connections

ECU (engine control unit) is an electronical component (processor) that makes all the fuel and air Management besides other parameters it's a sord of "brain" of the engine...
In barchetta it's attached to the engine in the air intake manifold it's a black plastic and alluminium box with a big electrical connector normaly from Hittachi manufacturer.

New engine was just new engine. All electrical parts are from old engine, so it should work just like that, but i have to doublecheck if there is some new electrics from new engine.

Any other tips?

Besides That , the usual basics checking all the electrical cables and plugs !
For being shure the best would be pluging a scan tool to the engine and read all the faults...
