Hello, I'm a new member. I bought my barchetta Riveria in Germany 18 months ago & it's now in UK plates. I bought the car to drive in Europe in the summers, & it's going really well. I took it to DTR where they found all sorts of horrors with the floorpan. After a few thousand pounds in welding & underseal & a new pair of front brake discs & (Pads), oh and a rear wheel bearing it feels very solid & a whole lot of fun, eager to start too. Oh yes that was after we had a new battery fitted in Tuscany after being stranded in a supermarket carpark (luckily they sold jump leads there too) Last year i had the exhaust break in half while we were down in rural southern Italy & i had it repaired (soundly) for 20 euros. It's been good as gold since. Touch wood... But anyhow, i'm here in Italy again for several weeks & i took th car into the local mechanic to see if he could get the Aircon working. I knew it wasn't a case of just re gassing as the car had come with some aircon spares & the guy obviously know there was a deeper issue. The Italian mechanic figured this out too & he said genuine Fiat parts would be very expensive & i'd be better sourcing parts online.

So here comes the question:

Does anybody have an exploded diagram of the barchettas air conditioning system that i can print out, take back to the mechanic & he can tell me what parts i need to find to get the cool breeze flowing (hopefully). It's very hot & dry here this summer & my wife's getting overheated...

I've looked online in vain & only found the wiring diagram - which isn't going to cut the mustard.

Thanks in advance & good wishes to all. If anyone can help or steer me to the right place it'd be much appreciated.

Ciao.

HI Barchettajason,
I've uploaded a couple of pdfs to dropbox you can download.
Where in Italy are you?
I rarely use my AC as the car's pretty slow when on. But in traffic maybe.. Hope you get it fixed! If it's something with the main unit all the dashboard has to come out. I did it recently and it was a long job. Expect €300 labour just to get the dash in and out.

This is absolutely perfect - thanks so much Richard!

So when i too the car into DTR last year & mentioned the aircon system they told me it was never that efficient or reliable. Do you think it's even worth trying to get fixed? It's sounding like it may up to 1000 euro for parts & labour & i don't want to commit unless it's going to work reasonably well & stay fixed - you know?

We're near Aulla, Massa & Carrara for the next 6 weeks or so. Do you live permanently in Italy? I've only seen one other Barchetta on the roads here, i thought we'd see more (well a few at least, & we've been to Florence & Rome & Pisa so far) but round here it's nearly all 1st generation Panda's & Suzuki Jimmy's...

Jason.
