Good morning all,

My long neglected Barchetta won't start and I would like to do a few basic checks without specialised tools. What is the easiest way to see if we have a spark & that petrol is getting through please?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Chris

hello !
is the battery ok ? the starter turns good ?
if yes , for checking fuel the easier way is to remove the feeding line in the engine fuel rack puting it in a botle and turn the ignition on ( not turning starter) watching if the fuel pump runs and the fuel filter it's not cloged it wood flow nice
, another fuel issue is that gas could loose flamability for long storage , so fresh gas recomended .
for spark you unplug the spark plugs and outside the engine head were you can see if they get the spark wen turnig the starter on , the sparkplugs must be in contact with ground mass ! be carefull , use ruber glooves or a nice ruber plier to hold them «they bite» high voltage .
for both works it will help to have an extra pair of hands for turning the ignition !
hope it helps :)
