I got a bit of an oil leak from front left shock so have decided to replace all 4 shocks. I've bought all 4 Bilstein B4 shocks from Demon-tweeks E-bay direct site for £262 which I think is a damn good price. I was going to replace springs as well but they are discontinued.
Not going to fit until next spring as B is laid up for winter.
Will be using LittleRedB's guide to remove suspension units.
Hope I don't have too many probs with rusted bolts & disintegrating top bearings!

Good luck with the suspension replacement, I did mine last winter. The only issue I had was the top bearing on both sides, at that time I couldn't find a supplier so opted to rebuild the bearing as best I could, replacing the ball bearings and just cleaning up the bearing cups. However I now have a link good price also.

The only mistake I made was cutting of the plastic location bungs on the upper mount, I think they are to help locate the strut when refitting, but I just used two additional bolts.

Thanks for reply & info. What happened top original top bearings. Was it wear, corrosion, water damage? I'm hoping that a combination of low mileage, mainly dry use & laying up for winter will prevent the need for replacement (he types optimistically!!)

The main issue with both the bearings was that the nylon type dust shields had deteriorated, the bearing was no longer a sealed unit it just fell apart when I removed the spring. Also the top of the housing was rusty. You wouldn't think so much grime could collect in this area.Thankfully after cleaning and derusting the parts were not in bad condition, I decided to renew just the ballbearings, mainly because most of them fell from the bearing race when I compressed the road spring.
I was concerned that I was doing the wrong thing rebuilding the bearing but once I had cleaned and replaced the balls repacking with grease the bearing felt smooth.
