I was thinking about someting less exotic and more useful, perhaps a submersible water pump?

Good thinking - Thunderball rather than Goldfinger! (or maybe The Spy Who Loved Me - that Esprit must surely have been fitted with a submersible pump, because Esprits leak like a sieve!)

Do you have central locking and electric windows on your B? If not, I'm wondering whether that might be the pre-wiring for them.

Do you have a third brake light? It could be the tester socket if it was on the driver side from going through the service manual
Eta: just re read your post and I see it was passenger side.
I have no idea and can't find anything in the service manual to help!

Mine is gen1, with sluggish el.windows but no central locks, no 3rd brake light, no el.mirrors or a/c (why would anyone want a/c in a car like this?)
And I aaabsolutely love it :D

Great post! Have you just bought it? Tell us more! What colour it it?

Yellow broom we are - best color for Barchetta if you ask me, in a short northern summer like ours.
Bought in June in mediocre to good condition, lots of fixes already done, some still to do.
Great little yummie for chilling on a sunny weekend, by far the most beautiful two-seater for the money. Well, for almost no money.
My next pick would be a yellow Boxster 986, which is bigger, faster, much more expensive to buy and keep (including speeding tickets) and not nearly as cute as my B.

Leaks!
O I've managed to eliminate the leaks at the topic the windows and at the back of the car, I now appear to be getting water coming in at the bottom of the doors at the point where there are holes in the door sill seal, the deliberate air holes that is!
Any advice other than get a garage?

The big dents are fixed!

Took her out today, no water in the passenger area but a sloshing from the hood compartment, going to have to take the hardtop off to mop it up!

She passed her MOT today, yay! Advisory for gas leakage mid exhaust, I guess that stainless exhaust will be sooner rather than later!

Went to start her up after a week away, dead battery.
Changed it after a fight with a rusty bolt holing the battery securing thingy down. Looks like it was the original battery - it's a '97! Never heard of a battery lasting that long!

Resurrecting my original thread! I have finally got the floor up and inspected the water damage.
Oddly the passenger side has no drain hole but the driver's side does, ah the joys of hand built cars!
