The standard exhaust on my 2001 Barchetta has just snapped by the exit of the middle silencer box, so its time for a new exhaust.

What are the options for Barchetta exhausts these days, which is the one to go for? Standard or aftermarket?

I do know of a MK2 Barchetta being broken for spares nearby - however I have noticed that all MK2 Barchettas have a single exit, oval big bore tailpipe. Would this fit straight onto a MK1 without any modification?

I've got a Novitec cat-back system on mine - it was fitted by the previous owner over a decade ago, and is still going strong and sounding awesome - but they don't seem to do exhaust systems for the Barchetta anymore :(

Which Exhaust, is a topic that has been covered many times on this forum, I have seen std replacement ones on eBay costing £90-£100 for the rear section. In fact I bought one, however I always intended getting a stainless one.eventually. I bought a Powerflow , also from the cat back, also had a new flex pipe grafted onto the cat, had it fitted about 4 years ago have it checked over each year to keep the "lifetime garentee" .Main reason I got the Powerflow is that the dealer is very local to where I live , Very pleased with it sounds great.

I have just replaced my stainless steel DTR exhaust with a standard pattern one. The DTR exhaust whilst it works well and sounds georgeous, I have found it a bit tiring for the the longer journeys. I purchased the replacement exhaust from the German eBay site, complete with hangars, both silencer sections for 115Euros delivered (19Euros was all it cost Europe wide). The exhaust appears to be very good quality and was very well packed, (only took2 days to arrive.
I fitted it with no problem other than the struggle of working under the car jacked up and lying on my back. She is now very quiet and I can hear the phone ring which is not always a good thing. I will be keeping the SS exhaust in preservation for the time being.

I always thought my Barchetta was too quiet.. sounded like a standard Punto and nothing more. My exhaust was fine but I decided to change it anyway with a IMASAF, from the cat back. The sound is good - not loud but now has a good burble on de-acceleration. I bought online from a firm in Germany. The price was cheaper than Italy (where they are made.. and where I live) and delivery was fast but it took me at least 6 months to get round to fitting it. The original had two pipes out the back, the IMASAF has just one big one. It looks great.

Hi there, I take it that your exhaust was an IMASAF sport exhaust, can you remember the German companys details?? Cheers David.

Great Service from an exhaust company in Germany, IMASAF Sports Exhaust I ordered it on the 8th of Jan,arrived in North East Scotland this morning12th, only 4 days from order.only 21 euros for delivery.Company name for anyone interested is AUTOTEILE BLACKERT&SCHACHT.

Can you advise us on how you found your correct system on their website. I'm afraid I don't speak german and cannot find a "translate" or English button! What system did you opt for? maybe some part no's would help.

Cheers in advance

Hi Davefridge, go on to ebay then motors, parts, exhausts, then fill in the details of your car to get correct exhaust. auspuff is the german word for exhaust. the seller is kfzteilehandel_blackert_schacht_gbr.hope this helps. I'm afraid my german is about zero also. David. I chose an Imasaf Auspuff Set sport from CAT back ie.middle box and rear box, cost 279.80 euros +21.40 for delivery which is about £206 +£15..best of luck..

Thanks for info buchan. I'll look it up later. Maybe you could report back on its fitting and how it sounds. My centre box has a crack in the ears nd on the outgoing side. Its been there for years but I know its got to be replaced sometime.

Thanks for info. I'll keep this for future reference. This year I have to replace the suspension dampers (which I've already bought from Demontweeks) and replace timing belt. So I've plenty to do!
Cheers

Hi Davefridge, New exhaust fitted sounds fine a throaty sound when you put the foot down. put in new handbrake cables when old exhaust was off released the heat shield and they went in ok.

Not allowed to change exhaust ...see other weekend toy!! Wife says 1 car with non std exhaust is enough!

Actually newish exhaust standard(i think) exhaust on my car sounds quite sporty i think...
