Hi,

I have a problem with the suspension on my Brachettan and need new parts to resolve it.

I have been given a diagram of the shock absorber and the parts that fit on to it. As far as I know the diagram is from the service manual, The parts I need are numbered 5 the description is "suspension bearing" and part numbered 10 "top mount bearing". I need left and right for both parts.

The parts are no longer available from Fiat.

I be grateful if anyone has any advice as where I can source the parts.

I live in France, getting parts from the UK wouldn't be a problem

Thanks, in anticipation

Frank

Frank, you are correct these parts are not available anymore. I have tried to find a bearing suppliers here in the UK, but no one has them. Your best bet is second hand ones if your lucky. My solution was to buy new ball bearings and rebuild the bearing up . But first you would need to clean and derust the parts. This has worked for me the nylon covers that helpnto protect the ballrace were not so bad, I repacked with grease and reassembled. Hardest part was making sure the bearing and housing stayed in place whilst I fitted the spring. I put the strut in the vice tonhold upright whilst doing this.
Hope this helps good luck.

Can you post the picture here for clarification? There are lots of fiat parts available in Germany and Italy.

The suspension bearing cup is available:

and the bearings themselves have standard dimensions, so your mechanic can always disassemble them, measure the bearings and order new ones from any bearing supplier. Bearings rarely cost very much.

I had the same problem, where you found the bearing, can you get me the link to the seller of germany? thanks, I´m from spain

Generally if you google the part number with Fiat before it will do a good search, "Fiat xxxxxxxx". Generally the .DE sites are good.
I have been buying recently from :
http://www.hirschmugl.co.at

http://www.original-genuine-spare-parts.com/ (they have several domain names, but they all link here)

https://www.partacus.de has good prices but does reply to emails!

There are also a number of used part dealers in Holland.

Also a lot of the mechanical parts are from a Punto.

Hi, I know this is a really old post but on the off chance does anyone know the ball bearing size so I am able to rebuild the strut bearing? Want to try and minimise the total 'off the road' time! Many thanks

I did take some photos of mine when I did it last year:
I know that there were 42 of them which might mean you could possibly calculate the diameter. I will plough through my notes and see if I did measure them. I know I was worried about losing them so maybe I did.

There you go:
5.97mm according to my calipers
