It seems I've finally blown my original speakers (y) Or they're just disintegrating because of age - not unlike me. At any rate, I'm in need of a new set of speakers (both tweeters and wossitcalled main speakers). Could anybody point me to a set of speakers that are plug and play? Price range about 100 euroes (no idea what speakers would cost...).

Oh, and are speakers easy to change? Just a screwdriver, and a hammer? :D

I installed a new set of speakers the other day. I chose Hertz DSK170.3 6.5 speakers. Woofers fit without any modifications and they have to correct hole pattern for easy installation.
The tweeters needed a bit of work. I cut some tabs away from the original speaker surrounds with a knife. Then I could just push the new tweeters in and hot glue the whole thing together.
The new speakers came with a crossover box. I taped some cell foam around the crossovers and tucked them into the doors thru the woofer speaker openings.
You propably could use the original speaker wires. I run new cables for the tweeters because I could not find a way to split the old cable without taking the whole dash apart. Basically I connected the original speaker cable to the crossover Input and then connected the new speakers to the crossover outputs.
Then I crimped new terminals. The old ones do not fit so you'd have to replace them anyways.

It took a couple of hours to do the whole thing. I replaced the head unit while I was at it. My car had a very ugly looking AEG radio. Now I have a slightly better looking Pioneer.
Didn't need a hammer. Screwdriver, knife, hotglue gun and a crimping tool was all I needed.

As I don't really have a garage to arse about in it sounds like a little too much work  Moreover I don't have a glue gun nor crimping tool  I'm really hoping for the screwdriver-only variety replacement speakers :)

Thanks a mill for the answer, though (y)

I found the speakers easy to change over. I switched the footwell speakers to Alpine SXE-1750S 6.5". Any speaker of that size would fit I assume as long as they are not really deep.

The replacement tweaters were harder to find. I ended up with Infinity Reference Series 110t. I expect mine are long out of production but it might help you source something similar.

I later bought an original Barchetta subwoofer box to mount behind the seats. I removed the subwoofer setup and installed 2 mid range Infinity speakers. Having rear speakers was a nice addition but fitting them involved trailing cable under the floor so was a bit of a pain.

Those front footwell speakers are easy to change. Just some unscrewing as you said. You remove the plastic panels that cover them first and then swap over for new ones.

These seem to come with a pair of tweeters. My tweeters had in-line crossover - they were plug and play. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip :) I finally managed getting my finger out and managed ordering a set of Alpines today. And with my efficiency I might be able to fit them in time for christmas :)

As you said the footwell speakers were a cinch to change. Even I managed changing them in half an hour or so :)

I reckon the tweeters are easy as well, but I have a question regarding them: Is the mesh part from the original tweeters supposed to come out? I didn't get a chance to try as it started raining when I wanted to change them. Moreover, I reckon my tweeters have broken away from the mesh part... which is nice...

:D Looks like they have come apart. The tweeters just come out as one unit - usually. The plastic cover unclips once the screw is removed and then the tweeter is set behind the cover.

Hi Guys just need a bit of guidance on how to remove / replace the speakers ( in the footwell ) so i can fit new speakers. Thank you in advance.

Removing the speakers is not that hard. The plastic cover is held in place by 4 screws.

-One is between the seat and the door.
-One is in the front of the cover (just underneat the painted dash part)
-one is in the middle on the flat side.
-One is just located behind the mesh for the speaker.

When the screws are loosened, you can pull the plastic cover off. it is held by clamp for which you have to pull quite hard. Be carefull not to damage your rubber seals of the door.

Behind is the speaker which loosens straight forward by just unscrewin it and disconecting(y)
