ar sit in garage for half a year untouched while I was abroad,
now after fully charging its battery for a day it starts all fine however it acts like it wants to just die while in neutral and the revs are jumping all over ,and eventuly it just stalls after doing a couple of those ping-pong moments. I did took it out for a drive and blasted the **** out of it to to see if it helps but it doesn't...

I had changed fuel filter for it some 2years ago when it had a problem of also stalling sometimes while driving and it fixed the problem (but not in a way like this, this is something new, however maybe related?).
Also it seems to have its all power when accelerating no problems there,

anyone has got ideas what this could be?
here's a video to give a better idea, (watch the first 15seconds)

Cleaned the Idle air control valve as suggested somewhere on forum here ,wasnt that dirty some black stuff came out but not really much... Didn't gave any effect at all :( :(
Also burned as much petrol as I could and put in half tank fresh petrol...No effect at all! :( :(
Any more ideas?

Now cleaned the throttle body as well ,wasnt all that dirty as well..
No effect whatsoever :(

also I think the Red Injector light is coming on now, it used to come up as well for me in past every now and then, also seems like the car now starts its ping-ponging idle and stalling only once it warms up a bit few minutes, when first starting it from cold it acts normal now..
Anyone got any ideas?

I have just remembered that my B behaved like yours when I first acquired it. It had been left in a garage unsued for a 2 or 3 years. Everything was tried to make her run smoothly without success until it was found that the timing was out. On having the timing corrected it ran beautifully and has done ever since. Why the timing should have come to be wrong between the car being put away and recomissioned is a complete mystery. Worth checking the timing perhaps.

took it to service today to flush out the old fuel and change the filter.. Still nothing :( didnt gave any effect whatsoever..
So far I have done:
-fixed one vacuum leak
-changed fuel/filter
- cleaned Idle air control valve
-cleaned whole throttle body
-dumped in redex injector cleaner and drove it hard for ~100km

Anyone got any other ideas? btw the Injector light is coming on, im sure it has something to do with it..but the car has this weird 3pin old style obd connector which only fiats have and have to wait like a month before that adapter arrives from china :( :(
help? :(

Does the IAC valve actually work?
Take it out with engine cold, connect it, turn key to "On"position, and see if the IAC moves.
( Don't start the engine with the IAC out...!!!)

thanks for the idea, how much should it work actually? seems like something is moving inside it ,is that enough?
Check the video, start watching from 14th second.

thanks :slayer:

I would say it should move more...
There are inexpensive IAC valves for sale on Ebay, maybe try one of those.

thanks for that, when you have to ship it to europe it becomes 2x more expensive tho :yuck:
but still If i were to buy that thing here it would probably cost me 150euros at least from dealer.

What else do you think besides the IAC unit could possibly go wrong? what about some O2 sensor or stuff like that? 20quid for a new o2 sensor doesnt sounds that expensive when It probably hasn't been changed for the car at all in past.

thought would give it another try with cleaning the IAC unit.. now i took it fully apart ,and seems like the movement in the video is the max it can do anyway... can the IAC unit still be faulty if it actually moves inside?
don't really want to spend 28pounds on a new one and wait a week before it arrives if it isnt even faulty :( :(

Well Bought the new IAC unit, 26pounds and 2weeks wasted totally! the new unit made the car run even worse, crap quality part that one from ebay link someone posted (didnt even came with a gasket! ) , Put in back old unit and the car is still drivable however the idle is still crap and jumps all overs and idles high most of the time.
The new unit made the car accelerate on its own while in gear and the idle were even worse, YIKES!

Back to square one!
Any more ideas? the Injector warning Light comes up SUPER often when idling, actually its more On than off.

OK, the fact that it made things worse, is a sign you're on track!
So it has definitely something to do with the IAC valve, i.m.o.!

what could be the next step now since it made difference how the car runs now to the worse? btw I did took off the battery for half a hour, and drove it for good 20km to re-calibrate it,the new unit just seems like was a total dud , could actually running it without the gasket make any difference since the new one didnt even came with one?
