Hi,
Are there any Barchetta owners living in the SW France who carry out their own cambelt change? If yes would you consider doing a 'TechDay' to show us how it's done for us that haven't and want to?
Anyone have the tools specific to the belt cange that are willing to loan them out?
A thought for the future maybe.:)

Regards
Steve

Sorry I can't really help you as the English Channel gets in the way :)

Whilst StevePD is looking for a TechDay in the South of France he raises an interesting opportunity for the TechDay idea in concept.

Whilst self made videos of any specfic or general type of vehicle maintenace operation are great, they do not and can not actually really build and bridge the ability and confidence gap that a one to one/not so many encounter can deliver. From changing a wheel, doing an oil change or the slightly more complex/technical tasks.

I've helped several people over the years and they have gone away with more confidence and skill, especially safety concerns, than they had before.

It would be nice to see more people sharing their knowledge/skills around the country.

Steve, the last cam belt I changed was out of neccessity on a coke bottle Vauxhall Viva HB!

When we got the Barchetta, as a matter of peace of mind we had the belt, and a couple of other jobs, done at the Fiat main dealer in Auch which cost around 500€.

I must admit it's not a job I would attempt myself as I'm now too lazy to try.
Well, I could have said I can't bend in the required places and haven't got the right tools I suppose, but hey, let's be truthfull.

If you do decide to get something together I'd be interested in coming up for a meet anyway. Richpea might be interested as well, mind you the top rail of the screen surround is only at about knee level to him so he'd need binoculars to see down that far to the engine bay.;)

Keep us all posted and good luck.

Thanks everyone for replies. Crachet, I shouldn't need a cambelt chnge for 3 years now as it has just been done as a result of the big ends fix. But any meeting and exchange of advice/tips/techniques Barchetta related would be good. Once the weather improves of course. I'll suggest a date/venue for this summer at a later date.
Cheers All :)

Looking forward to it. The snow we had down here is mostly gone now, just staying on north facing roofs etc. but at least we now have sun!
