I am thinking of buying a barchetta, how often does the timing belt need to be changed and what is the cost. Also are there any other common faults with the car.

Not sure about the timing belt but you don't seem to see many failures on the forum unlike my other car a T4 where the forum is full of snapped belt issues. I had mine changed when i first bought it at a Alfa specialist and the cost was less than £300 inc variator.
As for other known faults, the passenger side wheel arch rots and the brakes are only adequate especially the handbrake which causes me problems EVERY year at the MoT.

Oh and the death rattle from the variator of course
