Hi guys,

It's been a long while since I posted on here.

Recently I got the opportunity to move to Serbia, and I took that opportunity. The Barchetta was a bit of a problem as I have moved out here for three years.

It is such a special car and as such I could not bear to let it go. If I did let it go it would have been a panic sell and it would have gone for peanuts (this actually happened with my older passat which I had to panic sell before coming here). So, The car is now in storage in the UK with what looked to be a very nice, dry, sheltered storage place. I managed to do some paint work and I gave it a very thorough clean before leaving it. It's (almost) rust free!

I may think of bringing it over here to Serbia but it is a 20 hour drive, which was okay in a nice comfortable 6 gear Passat, but it may be an 'experience' in the Barchetta (especially on the Autobahn) :). Also, the driving is fairly atrocious at best here. Apparently full-body resprays are cheap though.

We'll see. At least it is nice to know that it is in good hands for the foreseeable future. It would be nice to take it to the coast in countries like Montenegro.

Cheers

Chris

I remember your posts, think you may have even contributed to my "handbrake" posts in the past.
Thing is with cars, what good are they if you don't enjoy driving them? you may as well LOOK at someone else's. The drive to Serbia sounds like fun in the summer but i wouldn't want to do it now, i hate driving my Barchetta with the roof up.
Can't imagine the storage comes cheap either? it must be reducing the value you have in the car by the month?
I know Barchettas are quite rare but maybe you would be best selling it and then if you ever feel the need again, buy another one, there will always be someone selling.
Good luck with your Serbian adventure :)

Hiya,

Yes, the storage is a little on the expensive side. I have paid upfront for 6 months though so I will have time to decide what to do. I didn't sell before I came here because it would have been a quick-sell and a bad deal. It's in good hands though.

Cheers
