Hi, I am thinking of installing Lpg.
I don't have any previous experience with those systems.
Does anyone know if there are any ready kit for our cars.?
There are many brands, which of those are reliable and what to look for.

I live in Italy and a lot of Barchetta have LPG installed. I recently had a system fitted on my 10 yr old Mercedes C-class and it goes really well. I did a lot of research and found that BRC is the best system. It's made about 20 miles from where I live so that was convenient. The car now costs half to run and is quicker. You just take out the spare wheel and have the tank there. you wont get much range though. Probably 150-200 miles max. I have a big tank in the Merc (58L) and it does 300km max. I replaced my spare with a can of spray but this wont help if a tyre shreds. You have to work out the costs and be prepared to visit your petrol station a lot more often. For the Merc it's worth it as it's a gas-guzzler and we do a lot of KMs but I wont bother with the Barchetta I just bought. I hope this helps!

Thanks, I will give a call to BRC.

To Gar, Lpg doesn't mean a tank like your head.

LPG is a thing of the past. Now its LPI.
I have a 2003 barch with lpi installed.
Has a little tank in the spare wheel space installed and the control unit is in the ash tray.
It starts on petron and switches automaticly to gas when it's warm enough.

Costs about 2000€, but you will run alot cheaper afterwards.

Yes, I have an LPi system (BRC) on my Merc - it's still LPG but has injectors of its own. All cars fitted with gas have to start on petrol and will run on it for a couple of miles until the engine warms up. I paid €1,800. They did a really tidy job too.

From what I understand,
with LPI the gas goes into liquid form until the valves (that way you don't have problems with the valves.)
It is double the money, I don't I will ever get this investment back.
Common LPG installations cost around 700-1000euros.
I am thinking about this. I just want to know if there are any reported problems with that confiquration on our engine.

Like I said, we see lots of Barchetta here (Italy) with LPG installed. I've just looked around on some Italian forums and no one reports problems with valves. I would just get the best system and make sure the installer is good. I read that people get 300km on a 30L tank which isn't bad. If you go to this website-http://www.subito.it/annunci-piemonte-italia/vendita/auto/ and select Fiat - Barchetta and in the 'Cosa cerchi?' field type GPL and on the list 'Dove?' choose 'Tutta l'Italia' you will see there are many for sale with LPG.

thinking about installing LPG as well for my barchetta,
30mpg aint cool when your other car is on lpg already and does 100mpg equaliant in costs.

what's the biggest tank you can fit in the spare wheel area? dont want that it takes up the whole boot which already is tiny.

also srs whats the point on dropping 2k euro on lpg? lol? it will never pay off and you are stuck with an lpg!
here it costs around 500euro which you can earn back really fast...

Well, depends how much you use the car if it's worth it... surely? If you don't do much then don't bother but if anyone is going to drop 2k Euros I think they would do the maths first, no? In Italy we don't pay road tax for 5 years once LPG is fitted so that alone pays for it :)
