Two weekends ago, I had a horrible drive from about 100kms away, arriving 4 hours later. In desperation I had the fuel pump replaced, and I feel I am renewing the car incrementally until I come across the faulty part one day. Grrrr!:bang:

Next time it conks out, try taking the fuel filler cap off and then replacing it - wonder if you could be pulling a vacuum in the tank.

@ HP thanks for that - I haven't done this for some time, but when the problem first surfaced, I did just that but with no positive result. I will however try it again. I have now replaced the fuel pump. The gauze filter on the old one was clean. Another hot day will dictate what is going to happen - maybe I will have to carry on replacing the car incrementally until I find the culprit.
