Been reading around on here, and, was wondering, we know if this is officially an MOT fail yet, got mine tomorrow!
Also, my light is on because I changed the seats without disconnecting the battery, does the airbag actually still work if the light is on?

if you are in hurry, take bulb out before MOT. and later go to reset airbag.

Thanks for the replies guys :)
In the end I explained it to the tester and they passed it without an issue.

Sadly not at all local to you Pete, thank you though!
I think reason the light is on, is that I fitted some Fiat Coupe leather seats, without the connectors from the old ones (cables are sitting loose underneath).

What I really want to know, is would my airbag actually work if need be?!?

I've read previous threads here and tried to digest. Basically I'm told the warning light is a fail now! I'ts been suggested I remove the bulb, but does anyone know how else I might tackle this? I have a 2000 from new. I estimate the light shone for last ten years. Never an MOT fail but now is. Removed passenger seat only to tackle some floor pan corrosion near seat belt anchor, probably with battery still connected, but as I say the light shone long before that. Advised today that Barchetta parts are no longer available as FIAT stopped producing them and I assume nobody bothered to pursue this in the market. Reading previous threads is this reset option still the advice? If so where is the reset? I've been warmed the ECU may have dry/cold joint? and that Pretensioners are no longer available.....I don't believe power is making it to the connection below the seat having tested it. IS ANYONE CLUED UP ON THIS? please help? I have a friend who will charge me the minimum to do a diagnostics....

The fiat airbag ecu continues to display the warning light, even after the fault has been fixed.
The airbags or pretensioners very rarely develop a fault, so most likely the warning light was triggered by a bad connection (under the seats if I had to guess), so go read the codes and reset them after you have fixed whatever was wrong.
You can buy a obd cable for barchetta for some 20e from ebay and the programs are free, so you might want to invest on one.

I had my barchetta in accident and the airbags explored. can I reset the control unit and use it in another car?
