I hope you like it. This is work done since i got it a year ago
Please ask if you have questions

is that "puller engine" for opening boot strong enough to release? i have one spare from remote central locking, but it looks not strong enough. you have no problems with that?

Well... Yes and no.
The puller is not strong enough to lever the original lock.
But the 'special' boot openers are just the same strenght as the normal door motors. I just used a spare one of the doors, as I saw in a tutorial on the mx5-scene.

What you have to do is make or buy a softer spring (the big one of the lock). Just strong enough the lock locks and it won't pop out.

Now the lever for the boot feels kind of soft but I hardly use it as I have one on my key.
You do need to calibrate the lock verry good. I've been 1,5u in total busy trying to get it right.
I think I got it now as the boot doesn't pop up every bump I take.
Has been open 3 times last 2000km now:cool:

Here is the last update trying to fix the oil leak caused from the camshaft magnet.
Like you can see verry dirty:)

Start unscrewing the 2 torx bolts

Pull magnet upwarts.

The ring goes off

Cleaned and degreased
DSC00231.jpg

Give it a nice color while you are at it

Then reverse. Use liquid gasket when mounting. Use some between metal plate and above the rubber. (as you can see on photo)

Result:

No more oil leak and a pimped piece in my engine bay
costs: 0€:slayer:

(y) thanks for info about boot. i'll do same way, but my boot is opened every day so need to be created really good. i will leave original wire, just in case when puller fail.

also found same issue on camshaft magnet. nice DIY (y)

no need to remove the original opener cable. I have even a third emergency cable atached. All works fine.
The opener on remote works like a charm, opens every time I press the button (4sec)

Here are some photo's of the floor overhaul.
Only got to give one advice: don't get started in winter:(

floor looks in good condition, i mean rubber cover. mine is all cracked. especially under gas pedal. previous owner was girl that drive with high heels. so i have HHH (high heel hole) all through cover. of course, it all wet inside and stinks like heel.

my idea is to completly remove floor, create 4 molds from fiber and cover it with some rubber (0.5cm) plates. and put some nice carpet to hide ugly rubber. it will be watter proof :D

omg that looks nasty. you should remove the floor asap to get the thing nice and dry. cause water means rust. Worst thing is you can't see it untill you remove the complete floor.

My mates barchetta's floor is as badly cracked as yours. Removed it first week, still awaiting to buy a new one once we have the time to go to Henk (barchettaparts). Though a new (wel used) floor cost about 180€:(

I can say, better no floor as one where there is water underneith

Here are some photo's of the hardtop I have refurbished.

The cloth on the inside was verry nasty and came loose all over.
Found localy some flees to cover it and get it top when It wil go on the car.
