HELP PLEASE!!,
I have privately provisionally bought an Original Fiat Hard top for a 1996 Fiat Barchetta.

I do not have the anchorage points on my car as mentioned in the Barchetta Owners manual on page 77 fig.53 point b.

Can you advise if anyone knows of a way to get the original Fiat parts or can you confirm that the below product acts in the same way?

http://www.barchettaparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=458

DTR have them in stock but will not sell me them as they want them to go hand in hand with their hard tops.

Please can you help.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

well... i also does not have those anchorage "spike holders", they are for positioning hardtop before attaching. but you can normally attach hardtop without this.

i can post you pictures tomorrow how is on my hardtop... bty: my hardtop does not even have spikes for those anchorage parts.

They are the parts you need to locate the hardtop spikes. I have had very good service from Henk, and I am not trying to criticise, however the mountings are not original parts and seem expensive for what they actually are. There have been a number of recent posts about these mountings and, with a decent drawing, they would be fairly easy to manufacture. F4UST and Afroking are correct in saying you can mount a hardtop without them. The gardtop would need to have the two top mountings and the two, over centre clips.

Easy to make a working fix..Hard parts to source are the original oval covers that hide the mountings...

here are picies... you can see that i don't have those spikes, and hardtop is normally attached. also does not have that cover and looks ugly. but will try to make a mold from hard paper...

just be sure that hardtop is tighten enough, you can adjust with those bolts on catches...

You're right RB. My hardtop doesn't have these covers either. I have thought about cutting, shaping and bending some acrylic then covering with fabric. Yet another job do get round to - one day :D

Steve

Originals are exactly that. Hardboard shape covered with headlining fabric stapled and glued and with a locating lug at the back. Not exactly high quality manufacture..In fact considering I wonder if mine are home made as my hard top was sold to me 'New' by Henk but emphatically isn't..touched up stone chips on the front edge.

50 euros seems a bit high priced!!

Have just took one of the origionals off and added a few measurements see pics (forgot to mention bolt holes are 7mm.) If you need any more measurements let me know. I could try the workshops here but not sure how much it would cost to post to UK. Probably cheaper getting them made there.

I'm sure a local workshop could make them for you at a fraction of the price that they are offered.

My covers are kind of cheap looking and have been recovered prior to me buying the car. I could drop them off at a local fibreglass workshop and see if he could make an extra set. not sure what he would charge I guess if a few people need them they would work out cheaper.

those fasteners like to snap. every time one less when removing door trim. and by screw is more tight... but i thought at least 2 bolts hold that cover.

cover is held in by a single "camlock" type fastener... commonly used in aviation industry, so may just have something in the local stores that will suffice... :) plus the small metal bracket on the back.......

Replace the useless camlock fastner with a small bolt through the cover and a nut superglued to the bracket. The cover doesn't take any load and glue works fine. The standard lock rattles like F* just behind your ear and will drive you nuts.

I'm gonna try getting these made!!

Would you be able to give me all the measurements to get this made?

Can you tell me the width of the bolt holes? And also overall length of the piece?

I'd really appreciate this... Thank you soo much

Hi Jetweed

Have added a few other measurments on the drawing. hope it helps.
Only critical measurments are distance between hole centres and the tapered hole for the spike. overall dimentions and shape are not critical. you can make all corners square it shouldnt catch on anything.

let us know how U get on
