How much would you expect to pay for a full service, timing belt / water pump change?

I have a contact who's wife has a flying banana B (rare as rocking horse doo here). Just had the above work done and charged €850 for it at a main dealer. I've not seen the invoice yet but been advised €400 for the parts and 450 labour (5 hours).

Seems very steep..?
 
Rustbucket, when we got our 'B' last July I had the belt, tensioners, water pump, all changed, oil change and filter and new rear brake pads done at the Fiat dealership in Auch. 345 euros for the parts and 181 euros for labour, (3.8 hours). All in 630 euros ttc.

I thought that was expensive.
 
w8a2nd! 100€ per hour? holly peanuts. over here one hour is 15€ and we complain why is so expensive... you should came here for vacation and repairing barchs...

no,no... I'm not going to EU. i prefer Balkan Union in this case...
