General All hail the Mighty Barchetta!

Thanks :)

Oh, I forgot to add - for the seatbelt rollbacks, I had to supply my own M6 x 20mm allen bolts and washers. The standard bolts aren't long enough and there isn't enough clearance around a conventional hex head bolt to get a spanner or socket on.

The heat shield from Barchettaparts has been on for a few weeks now. No more rattles, really easy to fit.

If I'm being uncharitable, it does sit a little close to the fan housing but really it isn't an issue.

Need to give the little B a bit of Thanks. It's done sterling service since 22nd Sept when the Alfa steering went pop. I've done 1,300 miles since then without missing a beat... that's nearly as many miles as I did last year!

It does now need rear arm bushes and a water pump / cam belt service, getting the parts lined up as we speak :)

Ok. Done the cam belt, water pump and tensioners - bloody thing pinched the O-ring seal on the water pump and immediately started leaking so it all had to come off again, which was a pain!

Just finished the rear arm bushes. I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone try this unless they have drifts, pullers and packing pieces to use to pull the new bearings in.... bit of a job, these

So you need to cut back the metal to allow the belt to sit on the roller:

Ive just bought these rollers and will be fitting them next week, never relised they may rub on the belts.

Thanks, for the tips, maybe I will need to modify mine too. (y)

Regarding the leather gaiter, Ive had mine for a while and they do fit tightly.
You did well to cut the felt and then the lever should just about sit down.
Never thought about cutting the handle. Does it work as normal now?

Your missus is going to murder you for fitting those bushes on her best carpet...

I say, we have carpeted garages around here, you know :D

It does, but I have a feeling that if the handbrake needed to come up any further it would pop the gaiter out. This isn't really helped by me having a slightly longer travel handbrake caused by the different rear calipers.

After about 6 weeks of neglect, decided to give the B some TLC today. She started immediately, despite not having been on charge and after a quick check whisked me to Great Ayton for some pies :)

Next door neighbour popped out to say Hi when I got back, I knew she wanted to go for a drive out really so took her for a spin to Stokesley and back!

Then it was time for a wash, polish and an Autoglym hood treatment. Looking really fine now

Sizzling hot here in South Africa. I can't drive with the roof down most days because of the burning sun. You coldies probably didn't want to hear that! At night and in the cool of the late afternoon however, it is a delight. Our Winters are cold and dry, and the Barchetta loves 'em! - "Starry starry night!" - Mine is the only B in South Africa.

Last weekend folks, I'm sorry to say I traded the Barchetta.

My son will be learning to drive soon, and either the B or a Jag would be impossible to insure for him so I've swapped it for a Panda 100hp. Used to have one from new in 2007 (hence the username) and quite like them.

The B wasn't really getting used - 3,000 miles in 4 years, most of that to shows. The lad who has it now may be along to say Hi, he's an enthusiast who will certainly look after it. Sorry to see it go, but at least it's gone to a good home.

Oh no, that must be an awful wrench for you. I think I'd have made him walk! (I persuaded the wife to insure our learners on her wretched Volvo V50, which now has a scratch, scrape or dent on just about every panel apart from the roof!)

Hope you'll still look in on here from time to time, Pete, so we can continue to pick your brains (y)

Hi everyone, I am the new owner of Petes barchetta. It's a little gem I have used it for just over a week commuting to work and back, just about getting used to driving LHD and am waiting for some nice sunny weather.. I'm lying i currently have 24degree heat right now in Cyprus! Anyway holiday is nearly over and I can't wait to get back and take the barchetta out for a good run. So anyway a full service and underseal touch up is required for my piece of mind over the winter, I will also get the rust bubble on the arches sorted too (y) here are some pictures!

Oh Pete I've just ordered the show plates for the barchetta and have purchased and received a copy of the autoitalia magazine that it had it's full feature in so you can keep yours to remember the car, can't wait to get back tomorrow and pick the car up and take it home

I posted them on my iPad but they don't seem to be working now, I'll get some more on Sunday when I go out for a nice drive (weather permitting) and upload them as the internet is awful here sorry for the delay
