My B gets shaky at 100-ish km/h? What's wrong with it? Do I have Parkinsons? I had my wheels balanced in April, will hopefully check the wheel alignment one of the next days. Are there any other obvious things that make it sh*te to drive (apart from the driver)?

When I first bought my B the previous owner must have hit a pot hole / curb....

When I had the wheels ballanced I noticed that 1 of them was kinda oval...

On the wheel ballancer it showed up as Ok but you could see it was not correct....

I had them put it on a rear wheel position and the vibration went away.... (well, almost... )!

As Mr Funkst says... i'd bet on a damaged wheel....

Just check your nuts are tight first..... Err, wheel nuts...

Does the steering wheel vibrate? Does it always happen at 100kph or does it only happen at that speed after a good long spirited drive? Does it ever not happen at 100kph?

How often do you drive the car?

Daily (y)

Could be a damaged wheel, deformed tire or some of the balance weights have come off

I'm hoping for the latter... I just bought these wheels (Nokian Z) a few months ago, and I don't want to shell out on new OZes

I've recently checked my nuts as they almost fell off a few weeks ago  (the wheelnuts I mean :p). I'll see if I can check for ovalness.

STOP DRINKING IN THE HOT SUN.

Check your camber. Also your breaks, are they stright.

Will do (y) The breaks are newish Red Dots (I bought them September or so last year; hope they're not warped )

Yup, the steering wheel vibrates slightly. Not too sure about the spirited drive bit as I drive fairly normally (ever since I planted the B in the bushes last year ) - but I do tend to notice it more whenever I've been a bit heavier on the foot.
I don't think it happened today when I was doing 100-120kph, but I'm not certain as I'm getting really paranoid in the B nowadays; feels like things are about to fall off any moment (well, it's a Fiat :))...

Robot, mine intermittently does the same thing but only occasionally after I have been driving round lots of corners fairly fast. My wheel alignments are dead on apart from being a teeny bit out on camber which I've got Eibach EZ camber bolts to solve. The problem is that the shakes go away when I park up so I'm never able to demonstrate it to a mechanic. Every time it comes back I think 'oh sh*t' then 'oh good I can get it fixed' then, it goes away:(.

Finally had a chance to have it checked today; 99,999% chance that it was a balance weight that has come off (the ones that are on don't look to well placed either). I had the front tyres moved to the rear, and now I got a shaky rear instead :) Will need to find a garage that can balance my wheels again.

The rear passanger side caliper's also sticking a little, so I'll need to have it looked at by somebody who knows what his doing (i.e. not me), and while I'm at it I might as well change the brake hoses (they looked fairly ok, but they'll probably need changing within a year). CV joint, driveshaft, arb bushes etc. all looked ok (y)

Make sure you check the alloys aren't warped. I had mine balanced 2 days ago, and the bloke who did it said one of the alloys is warped :(.
Now, where do I find some gold coloured 16" OZs? :D

Got these in the mail today :slayer: Some no-name gold 16" :slayer::slayer: Bling my B (y)

Nice wheels.... (y)

You would have been better getting 4 of them. But I guess if you put them both on the same side of the car no one will notice....

I obviously bought 4 of them :)

Here's a slightly better pic; the last one didn't show the colour properly

They're 16x7 4x100 (and 5x100, 5x114,3) ET40. I'll need to look for some wobbly bolts today, and check to see if I need to space them out before I find somebody who can take the tyres off my OZes and put them on these. Can't wait :)

If there Et40's you may find they sit far more in than the standard rims of
ET32, They may fit but will be very close to suspension parts and will be sitting far in from the wheel arch.
My Rims are Et38 and ive used spacers to bring them out.

I believe f4ust has the same spec wheels, see what he has done.

Thanks (y) I've got 5mm spacers on at the moment, but I suspect I'll need to buy some 10mm or more.

F*ck:bang::bang::bang:
Does anybody know if there are any narrower wobble bolts than the one pictured?:cry::cry:
