also there are some wires to belt tensioner near handbrake
(i you will doing something with wires, read my sig. You don't want to give xx€ for resetting airbags)

do you have glove box or airbag? if airbag then yellow wire have to be connected to seat (airbag will not open if nobody is seating on). but if you have glove box then let the wire hanging...

If the connector is hanging down and the airbag system warning light isn't on permanently, I'd bet it's the airbag diagnostic plug. It's supposed to clip on under the dash, it only plugs into a code reader when you are performing a diagnostic check..
