Hi all

I need your advice on this one. I have a strong petrol smell in the car when driving with the windows or hood down.

Tried so far.

Petrol cap fine.
Injectors fine.
No smell through the heaters.
Tanks all looks fine.
Fuel lines all look ok.
No obvious signs in the engine bay.

Only one thing I am unsure of the vapour thingy behind the headlight, does this tend to have any issues?

Any advice on what to look for is welcomed.

Thank you.(y)

is that a constant problem or does it take place only when you fill up the car? If it is the latter then I think its normal.

Yes the tank presurises up fine, no noise of any thing escaping. Tank all dry.

My friend said my down pipe is blowing slightly (Very minor) so I am replacing that this weekend. Could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks for all your advice.

Good thing you don't have diesel smell in the car :)

(No help in me...)

Have you ever removed the fuel pump or sender for any reason?

In the words of the Churchill Dog.... No no no no no....

All I have done so far is refit the fuel filter and replaced all the hose clips. My mechanic did that.

I am replacing the front exhaust pipe tomorrow and checking the spark plugs to see if she is running to lean.
