Technical Barchetta problems

Hi there ive had my Barchetta for four years and she has been absolutley fantastc! Every time i drive her she just brings a huge smile to my face!!

However, i had my first bad experience yesterday...........When getting into my car, i had the shock of my life to find a ticket on my window!! It was to tell me that the 3/4 size "cool" number plate i have fitted to the front has landed me with a 30 quid fine!!! Can you believe it??? Is there any way round this? Or do i need to bite the bullet and pay up?

Also, how do i upload apiture next to my name on here??

Thanks

It's a pain that the authorities can't find better things to do but as it's only £30 just pay up, buy an new plate and put it down to experience.

To put a picture next to your name, click on 'Get Your Own Title, donate some dosh to the site and then put your title and picture on. Given your user name goodness knows what picture you will be putting on! However you might not want to do that having forked out the aforesaid £30.

Hello and welcome to the forum beeverliquor

I must get my number plate sorted, apparently there is a drive to get people with illegal number plates at the moment - I guess the government have to figure out a way to generate more revenue to plug the hole in the economy!!

BTW, like your gallery piccies - took me a couple of mins to realise that you had a blue b!! :D

:DHi there,

Yeah, just thought that i would make a comment about this whole site. Its great, im into all Fiats old and new and have owned some interestig ones over the years, i cant believe i've never joined this site before!!

Good work all

Kurt

I've only just moved to Cheltenham and have seen a couple of regular Barchetta's about, i woulld be intereted to know if any of the owners are on this forum

Kurt

PM me your address and I will post you a handful of FIATFORUM fliers, if you see another b around you can leave one under a wiper and hopefully they will turn up here! (y) (that's if they are not already here).....

Hi

Today i decided to take the alumminum manifold cover off my Barchetta as its the fouth one i have fitted (In 4 years) They all just seem to crack break up and rattle.

Does anyone think that this was a bad idea? Am i going to get any problems??

and by the way...

most of the time i hear that diesel sound for 3 secs when i start the engine (cold) and sometimes i don't have any problems... could i do something else than changing the variator to repair that problem?

hello,

My car it's working better day after day.

Another question, it's normal when i start the engine after driving it a while and stoping for 20min, (hot engine) to make a bad noise and and to stay under 1000 rot/min (normal for mine) for some secs?

Could i find a separate back window to change mine?

thanks

Well Fiat put it there for a good reason. Also I can understand your reason to remove it.

I would have:

a) left shield in situe and bound/taped it up with heavy duty high temperature heat resistant tape (outside surface only).

or

b) removed the shield and then bound exhaust manifold/exhausr pipes in thermal bandage. This is the bandage of used in race cars to keep heat out of the engine bay and thus reduce air intake temperature so increasing fuel air/fuel charge density and thus engine power.

hey and happy new year!

seems that the dream ended :) i broke the front bumper while parking ( a 20cm crack) :( I started bad the new year.

I have another question... Cause it's cold here -4 and snowing... forgetting about frozen doors and handles :) when i start the engine i hear a noise, like something is blocked and the belt still moves... what could be? the dinam is frozen or the starter makes this noise? it's for about 2 sec.

thanks

i hear that sound too... i starts just after starting engine and lasts for 1-2 seconds and its horrible... szschhhshhszzss something like that

yep...

so i'm not crazy :))

maybe it's just the belt (stiff cause of the cold).

Is it like a screeching sound or something similar? If so I have it too :(

It sounds more like the starter engine. The sound only lasts a few ms - and only on very cold days.

Your Bendix gear is suffering from the cold and is not retracting as fast as it should. Give it a small amount of grease to aid it's way.
