Date / time of build

While I was spannering today I found a paper tag down inside the hood mechanism..

L'assegno di linea finale 06-09-00 1614' and a signature.

Losely translated that mean 'final assembly check'

So mine came off the line at 16:14 on 6/9/00.

Anybody else got an exact birthday time..?

Re: Date / time of build

Lets hope that's 6th Sept rather than 9th June - otherwise instead of a Wednesday afternoon car... it becomes a friday afternoon one!

Re: Date / time of build

A lot of car companies leave these type of sheet's etc on the car, some such as BMW's leave a full build sheet that includes all the factory options added etc.

A bit of a generalism but most BMW drivers are total 'ers - I know I was when I had one! Thankfully that is all behind me now, I am no longer opinionated, one minded and or arrogant and don't drive like a total ****!!

Sorry Al, on this occasion you are totally wrong - I should know I have had a number of BM's in the past and something about the badge turns you into an instant arrogant a-hole..........................it's well documented, just do a search in Google for BMW drivers!!

Sorry mate but just can't agree with you on this one. Look at this, how could anyone behave like an a-hole driving something so lovely?

Re: Date / time of build

Not debating that they make some great looking cars, early M3's, M1, Z8, M6, 2002, Batmobile................fact remains that generally they are driven by arrogant barstewards!!

I am sure that there are a few arrogant b drivers out there but in general we are a nice bunch!

Re: Date / time of build

Nothing wrong with Beemers as a car. its simply the nut holding the wheel.

I find 99% of the time the A holes are driving the small ones..316/320 and anything with a diesel in it. Something to do with the performance of the car matching their tiny brain/tiny tackle.

Found no problem with the big fast ones. The driver has nothing to prove and is just as keen to keep his 100k chariot scratch and clunk free as you are.

BUT:

We suffer a lot here in Ireland from the Polish brickies..buy a terminal wrecked M3 or rarely M5 at auction for peanuts as its got no MOT, been smashed and stuck back together with superglue and hammerite etc. Hoon around in the dark with no lights or race each other up the wrong side of the local dual carriageway. Drive somebody off the road and scarper..on a new building site in Germany by tomorrow night.
