Flat Batterie

I have done a few long runs of late and stored the B for just 2 weeks, and this morning found the battery flat, physically it is a small one, and I have noticed on one or two pics that some have put a bigger battery in ,with a different fitment i.e. a strap over the top, mine is held in place by a clamp at the bottom, thus limiting the size, so the question is can I just fit a bigger battery and where do I buy an over the top strap?

Re: Flat Batterie

I would firstly find out what is draining the battery before changing it......Possibly the alarm. If you don't have an aftermarket alarm you need to sort where the current draw is comming from

So find out the current draw in total and how long you will leave it at it's max then get the appropriate battery.

Re: Flat Batterie

Thanks Alan, this has only just happened, I have an after market alarm and had it since i bought the car 4 or 5 months, and i have left the car for more than 2 weeks and its always started fine, so this is at the moment a one off, i have the battery on charge at the mo so will see after that, no idea how to check current draw, but the car is going in to have some work done so will get the mechanic to check that.

Re: Flat Batterie

It's done by multimeter, it checks the current and measures the ammount of current it's loosing at that particular time. Without an after market alarm I was able to leave the B for 6 months and it started fine.....Yes to those thinking it I should have disconnected the battery The garage should be able to tell you.
