a word of warning!!

back in Feb (cant find my original post), i bought a complete set of rubbers for the B from FL AUTOS in lincs and when they arrived, i found the roof ones were missing. So rang them and they said they hadn't sent them as they were damaged so they would send them off the next B that's comes in.
so to cut it short i have not had them and after lots of phone calls we are at a stand still.

so my advise to you before you pay have written account of the deal DONT BE A TRUST FOOL LIKE ME AND PART WITH MONEY FIRST

When buying from a car breakers, I would always avoid 'mail order' as the condition will be unknown until you see it.

Descriptions can be helpful, but are often vague... "good condition" being a prime example.

If the breaker is not local, it might be worth posting on 'open forum' in case someone else could check it for you first.

Some breakers will be happy to photograph and email images of the parts if you ask them as well.

Could only advise that you threaten with trading standards etc I'm affraid Karen unless they are in Cumbria and I'll have a word.....

I would only buy from a breaker if they were one that I knew.

I lost £65 on a calliper from an on-line breakers a couple of years ago. Cut a long story short I bought a calliper for a VW Bora VR5 and they shipped me a standard golf calliper - they agreed to refund it (and pay for the postage) so I returned it recorded post. Despite a signature they denied ever receiving it and refused the refund - threatened trading standards, police, etc etc - was told very abruptly to f**k off there was no way I was getting the money back - plus I lost another £15 returning it to them.

Eventually I claimed from royal mail and got the sum total of about £12 for my troubles.

I would not buy from a breaker unless I could get to them or unless they came highly recommended from others who have used them in the past..............

sound familiar lee. we have been to trading standards and they have been in touch with the scrappy and they are lying though there teeth, saying they were not part of the deal.so they have a stale mate as nothing is in writing
and when we speak to them we get a load of words i cant say

hire a minivan, buy your local rugby team a couple of drinks, load the guys in the van, drive over to the scrappy/dealer/whatever; there raise issue again while the team leans against the van in a menacing looking way...
you might still loose out on the whole (drinks for rugby teams tend to add up), but at least you have the satisfaction of driving the point home that you dont take sh*t
