Re: that time of year again!!!

I would tell the insurance company about any modifications to the car, because if you have to claim they will use any reason to not pay out.

Karen, £240 is a good price, I would be amazed if you can get it for less than that! I am paying £280 for me and the missus fully comp with MoreThan (I think)..............

Re: that time of year again!!!

I pay €800 third party so stop complaining! That's with a healthy no-claims and being a fair bit over 25!

Re: that time of year again!!!

£240 is cheap as anything given what the car is, can't see you finding anything lower than that.

And yes, tell them every mod cos they need no excuse to not pay out.

Re: that time of year again!!!

Hi Orange; if you only use the B as a second car and for limited miles, you can insure it as a "future classic" through Hegarty Classic Insurance. They don't care about NCB for these types of policy - and mine was £180 fully comp! I was so shocked at that I paid straight away, but with a bit of haggling, I am sure I could have got it for less! I think the only factors are that you must have an everyday car/bike, limit the miles to under 10,000 pa and that's it! If you can't find them on Google, let me know and I will dig out my policy from storage with the car (next weekend, though!)

Re: that time of year again!!!

Have a look on quidco.com to see who's doing cashback deals. I switched to Prudential this year, got free breakdown cover with homestart, and after the cashback ended up paying about £160

Be carefull with classic policies as you will never gain any no claims with them, hense the reason they were not bothered that you had any no claims discount previously. If you have 5 years plus no claims and use classic insurance for 2 years (with some company's 1 yr) no insurance company will give you any no claims discount after that period....

Karen the declaring the strut brace I doubt you will see any additional cost but declaring the exhaust I think will be (but not much).

If you get insurance and fail to declare items such as mods, points etc you are commiting a criminal offence called obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception so not only can the ins void any claim if in an accident you could also be facing court if the police find out whilst dealing with the accident..

Re: that time of year again!!!

Check out the websites such as confused.com or go compare choose the cheapest quote and ask about the mods.

The SS exhaust is a mod as it's not standard, it won't cost much more if at all so wouldn't worry about that yet.

Over the weekend not as many comanies allow access to their quotes so try during the week.

Forgot to say if you go to swiftcover you can mess about with excess etc and it adjust's the price so you can find cheaper by adding excess etc worth a play for a few min.
