| Leaving car with roof down Hi All What do you all do about leaving the car with the roof down when you are out and about? I'm just wondering about when I'm doing the shop or taking the dog for a walk? Do you put it back up everytime? Has anyone had any problems? xS

| Re: Leaving car with roof down The important thing is to check your insurance policy to see if you're covered leaving the car with the roof down! Other than that, common sense really. Don't park under any trees (bird poo and tree sap). Empty the glove box, leave it open to show there's nothing in there. The biggest problem I had when leaving mine down was the cat would get in the car and go to sleep. I'd jump in and head to the shops and see the cat fast asleep in the back!

| Rosso Corsa of corsa!!! | Re: Leaving car with roof down I leave mine down (but that should not be a surprise to you!!).....only problem I have ever had is a well aimed bird poo in the middle of the drivers seat (which is not such a problem with leather seats). Mine does have a perimeter alarm fitted but it has never been set off by someone trying to get in, only by a spider that nested behind one of the sensors and kept setting it off in the work car-park! I think it depends on where you park and how long for, I would not leave it parked at a railway station all day with the roof down but if I am nipping into town for an hour then I don't bother putting it up.

| Re: Leaving car with roof down I leave my hood down if I'm pottering around locally (rural Norfolk/Suffolk border - we don't even need to lock the house at night ) I usually put the hood up, lest someone decide to use my B as a waste bin (or worse!) and ruin my lovely red leather seatsI never leave anything inside that might tempt some light-fingered Fred.. Only problem is, when I leave the hood down I have to remember to lock it with the key rather than the remote, otherwise the Scorpion alarm activates and all hell breaks loose! I once forgot while picking my daughter up from High School. We were walking across the playground, both wondering who the &*$?%* idiot was whose car alarm was sounding, only to discover it was mine! She was mortified, and made me promise never to collect her in the B again .Mind you, she's changed her tune a bit since getting her provisional licence... ![]()

| Ban the Mongol rally | Re: Leaving car with roof down As above if for a short priod and you are relatively close I would say yes leave it down, put valuables in the boot and lock the lever but before you get to your destination. Although I say that above, going by your luck you will prob be the first to have a problem ![]()

| Re: Leaving car with roof down That's good. I don't think I'd want to put it up everytime! (It is very heavy to lift on my own). And it would be nice just to come back from somewhere and get straight in with the roof down. I hadn't thought about the alarm though. Mine is the standard fiat alarm. What happens if it is set with the roof down? Would a gust of wind set it off or someone walking past?? I'm also going to have to look at head wear options after the first top down drive at the weekend. worzel gummidge springs to mind! xs

| Re: Leaving car with roof down
Then wondering why that bend key does no longer open the doorlock or starts/fits the ignition/lock...
a gush of wind should not set of the alarm (more then once) although people walking by might... and thus play havoc with the immobiliser ![]() For short stays, and i have the car within view i dont bother to get the roof up... I would not leave it parked "unsupervised" for a long time thou, even thou i am living in the safest city of the world (or at least europe) : http://money.uk.msn.com/mortgages/mo...mentid=8543898

| Re: Leaving car with roof down Mine also has a FIAT alarm - what a pain in the A... I have got so fed up with the damn thing re-arming itself all the time, that I have completely disconnected the entire system. I have only owned it for two weeks and I am reasonably even tempered, but it really was driving me nuts ![]() ![]() ![]() Glynn
