Replacing Barchetta gear knob

I am new to this having acquired a 53 plate black B a few weeks ago. I'm not that keen on modifying as I like the Barchetta the way it is but I do like to "improve", you know, strip things out, clean them, replace with better stuff etc.
Anyone any ideas on how best to replace the gear knob? I don't want to damage the linkage with brute force!!
Thanks for your help.

Re: Replacing Barchetta gear knob

welcome to forum. for replacing gear knob you have to be strong. Because it is all covered with leather i cut this leather. And then open roof, put left leg to left side of car, right leg to right side of car, then use you strength to pull it out... when pulling try to little rotate.
and most important thing: for god's sake watch you teethes.

i can post you picture how it looks when is removed.

Re: Replacing Barchetta gear knob

Which gear knob are you going to replace it with?
Authentic or after market?

The original is worn on the "H" so I'm just going for a black leather plain one with the 3 litle grub screws at the base - pictures and more details to follow when I get a moment - thanks for all your help

Re: Replacing Barchetta gear knob

Hello and welcome to the forum!

These are one of the most worn parts on the Barchetta, if a decent one comes up on eBay bidding is usually fierce as everyone needs to replace theirs!!!

Re: Replacing Barchetta gear knob

This section is starting to become well known for it's medical ailments

If it's not leather the replacement is only £20 from Fiat, leather is about £90 if I remember correctly

Nope - haven't played with the B for more than two weeks now... Gives me plenty of time to play with other things though

What is it with you guys!!

You are always adjusting them - NO wonder they wear out so quickly.
