1997 "B" with the New Front bumper

Hello everybody.

Recently i bought my own 1997 barchetta and i am truly exited. i simply love this car.

unfortunately i had a minor accident that broke my front bumper. Now the insurance will pay for a new one but i wanted to install the 2004 model bumper.

my question is, will it fit? and if yes will it be looking good?

if anyone done this already i would be glad to see some photos.

thanks in advance

Yes you can. But it needs different mounting brackets. IMHO it makes the car look like it has a double chin and the original with the spoiler and lip looks a lot better...

Will it be aligned with the side skirts and the old rear bumper or will it look weird?

Re: 1997 "B" with the New Front bumper

I think it fits (read somewhere thats its a S* to line up) but the car might look a bit odd as they changed the rear bumper at the same time. Don't know the exact mechanics of fitting but Fiat offered me new style front / rear bumpers as replacements when mine got damaged. I'd stick with the original.

Here are some pics of a 2004 model..have a look. Garage want £20k for the car!

I'd check with the insurers. Barchetta bumpers are Ferking expensive and I doubt they'd pay to fit non-standard (ie wrong type) to yours.

I thought that b was lovely! worked fine with the mk2 bumper though I must admit i didn't look to see what they had done to the rear end.

No, the back was still MK1 - talking to the chap he works for FIAT in Hemel Hempstead and was able to get the MK2 front cheap and liked it more than the MK1 so changed it!

Car was VERY clean

Re: 1997 "B" with the New Front bumper

I believe there is a special mounting bracket for the front as the MK1 and MK2 bumpers have slightly different mounting points. ROBOT has just had this work done on his, ROBOT - care to comment??

Re: 1997 "B" with the New Front bumper

Bad News...

Here In Greece the new front bumper costs 530 euro while the old one costs 616 euro. FIAT said that in order to install the mk2 bumper i need a special metal thing which name i cannot even pronounce in Greek.

That thing costs extra 200 euro plus plus plus some accesorries...and the total price becomes 1050 euro.

NO WAY!!!!!

im so dissapointed

Re: 1997 "B" with the New Front bumper

or drive to Germany / Holland and get one from barchettaparts

taking a little holidaytrip driving might be more fun then the postage on the bumpers shipped from barchettaparts

Re: 1997 "B" with the New Front bumper

@vicegr : looks like we have same problem, so i am thinking to visit some "tuning guys" and they will create similar bumper from for about 300-400€ with painting and montage. (when i save some money)

i know that some their designs are ugly as hell...
