Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

Rover never revealed the development costs for the MGF because they were embarrassed at how low they were.

Essentially it is a Metro with a different body.

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

'ang on fellas.. the topic starts off with a quote from an MG TF forum with a tiny dig at the B, then we have the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then everyone else starts slagging off the MG TF?

made me chuckle anyway

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

Calling the B ugly, coming from an MG owner must require some nerve. We all have our own tastes and I appreciate that but surely the no one really believes that the Barchetta is unattractive.

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

that's purely subjective and that wasn't my point..

someone said the MG TF is a parts bin car, too high etc and a metro underneath. All i was saying is that i'm sure the MG TF lot wouldn't agree with that either, but then they'd probably throw into the mix that a B is just a punto underneath?

edit, to throw my opinion in here - i like the B, apart from the headlights. They imo ruin the front end.. *legs it *

You could argue that the MGF has the engine in the right place..............

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

Theortetically the MGF has the engine in the right place for a true sports car. However, for a Rover product it has the engine in totally the wrong place as it makes it a pain in the axxe to get at when your head gasket busts - as they seem to have a fond habit of doing

Sure, a B may be a Punto underneath. But then, woudl you rather have a Punto or a Metro?

Anyway, juvenille nonsense, we like what we like. All i would say is that I cannot see how anyone could think the B is ugly..........

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

Peer pressure and the realisation that they have bought the wrong car if Fiat had decided never to make a Barchetta I very much doubt I could have lived with an MX5 and don't really fancy an MR2, but NO WAY would I have ever concidered and MGF. I probably would have gone old style and the 70-80's alfa spider.

With these types of car the looks are the main appeal, engine power doesn't matter so much.

Funny enough that it what I was originally looking for when I decided upon the b! With the budget I had I just could not afford a rod free Alfa, happy with my choice now though!

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

Ah, the Hyundai coupe.

Mk1: good looking car, bit MX-6 lookalike, power nothing special

Mk2: plug-ugly horror

Since: never quite recovered

You can remind him of this next time you see him.

As for TVRs: please nobody buy one, I don't want to hear of your death at 180mph in the near future which is surely what happens when you buy one of those little cars with satan himself imprisoned under the bonnet.

Re: Deluded drivers of lesser cars

Not true about the Mk1 Hyundai coupe. It is actually a very very offensive looking car.

If you gave a plasticine Hyundai Accent to a child and told them to turn it into a plasticine Fiat Coupe you would have got a better looking vehicle.

Terrible car.

I feel sorry for the owners of them because they clearly don't know what they are doing.
