General Barchetta -97 project

Didn't have much time to play with b today.. I just put straight pipe to suck cold air to DIA.. Have to work it out someday better..

I also washed b and found some nasty cratches.. What can I expect when it's have been my daily driver .. :( That might change in a little time..
Have get those cratches worked out when it gets little warmer here..

Nothing really new.. Did couple small fixes yesterday for central locking/alarm/electric windows. Don't really have time now days.. :(

Just checked some black mk2 b's for sale, I think now I have to add mk2 front bumber & mk2/painted lights to list.

Just don't know where to get one's..

Anyone on forum have any spare cracked/cratched mk2 front bumber for sale & repaired? ;)

eBay.de is the best place for a Mk2 bumper but only buy an OEM bumper not a fake. (y)
Ok, thanks for info!.. (y)
Checked ebay.de but did only find this one , maybe it's just me, never used ebay before..:D

I had a look for you a few hours ago and thats all I could find for sale at them mo. I would hold off until a OEM bumper comes up. I dont know anyone who has purchased from this seller so I cant say how good it will be.

Yep, I think it would be best get the OEM one..

What would be pricescale with OEM ones, are they usually cheaper or more expensive than that one? I have no idea how much would they cost..

I asked for couple more pic's from that seller, didn't have any from back side of the bumper..

Good thinking B97, some pictures of the back of the bumper will tell more about the quality.

OEM new shape bumpers do for good money £250 ish depending on condition and what lights you get with it if any.

If you dont get lights you will need to order them $$$ Also you will need the Mk2 bumper mount from Fiat.

Thanks again! (y)

Have to wait and see.. if I find good one for my purpose I might buy it.. ;)

I think that best option for me would be cracked/wrecked OEM bumper for cheap price.. :D

This facelift mod is not really high on my list, but will get the bumper when find one.

At this point I think fitting would be at the earliest next winter..
No rush with this one. :)

Have to plan/study everything ready before even think of starting this..

Btw , I asked about that facelift bumper (that ebay link before) about the fitting etc , and the answear was that it's made for mk1, so it should fit without modding/new brackets.

Did little make up for rocker cover today, at first I was just thinking of giving it a good cleanup.

Starting point:

With little help of water sandpaper and polishing stuff it turned out like this:

Didn't really try to get it full mirror style, just tried to give it back its glory.. :) I think it turnet out ok, compared with working time..

Now I have to protect it against bad weather/water/oxygen and then I maybe dare put it back to b :D

 Wow - what a top job! - just showed the piccies to my missus and evern she was impressed!

I think I may have a go at that, what grade of sandpaper and what polish did you use?

Excellent job! (y)

Thank you for your compliments!.. ;)
Its easy & noticeable mod, and it would be easy to get it full mirror look-like, I just didn't have time/nerves for that.. maybe next time when I'm cleaning it up.. ;)

Sandpapers where from all diffrent ranges, all what I could find from warehouse.. :)

Range was something like 320-1500, hardest part is trying to get it smooth, like in mine 11 years old cover time had really eaten it.. :( Maybe something like 400,600,800,1200,(1500) would be good if aiming to full mirror. Plolishing stuff was just some cheap Autosol Metalpolish ,4e tube..

I think I might cursed couple times when I was trying to clean that "barchetta" text.. "Damn you stupid font.." :D

BTW. found this pic from my hd, someone has gone for shortcut with that text, something missing? ;)

Great job!!I like it.

As for the last picture the rocker cover could be from a punto HGT or a Stilo 1.8.
Allthough the VFD 16V letters are missing also

Good point!.. (y) I thought I found it from some barchetta site, but cant be sure about that..

I did "paint" it with this thing called Sinol, it's something like ethanol.. :) Its old bikers trick for alunium, it wont become oxidized never ever, and it wont effect to shine.. (y) Just have to get it dryed properly.

And thinking of putting good car wax over it too..

Will be too warm for wax & may have a chemical reaction to that other stuff?

Was just thinking the same! (y) and otherhand I dont believe that wax would stick on it because its so sleek. :)

Have to test and see how enviroment effect to it. ;)
