Given that it was such a nice day today I have managed to talk a fellow victim of my companies re-structuring into a run to Goodwood and back tomorrow for the hell of it!

Planning on leaving at 11-ish from the Bracknell area burning down the A287 and then the A286, cup of tea and a few photos at Goodwood and then back again - he has a very well restored MGB and along with a highly polished LRB I hope to get a few nice photo's!!! (y)

I am sure that I should be using the time to look for another job or figure out how to pay the mortgage in Jan 2008 but what the hell!!

If you are multilingual, you might consider "downgrading" as a contractor to a HellDesk position (not phonemonky, but 2nd/3th line). I did that a few years back, after a year on the dole, i finally accepted there was no current need for a development manager, so i jumped deep and went for the easy way out.
It might not be a technical challenge, nor be paid "a lot", but you can net 500 ukp/week and it pays the rent. The only thing is to cope with the idiots one has to call and explain them that the problem IS actually PEBCAC and not a system/program/application problem. But as an project manager one should be able to deal with people anyways :)

More then enough jobs outthere on jobserve.co.uk and more then enough umbrella's to keep the money out of Browns' hands (y)

So, back on topic: hope it was/will be a nice drive and... show us the piccies !

Hi RnRollie - thanks for the tips, I am not 100% sure what I am going to do next. I quite fancy a change from being a PM but not sure what, maybe run a professional services outfit or I quite fancy a go at account management.........I may look for a short term contract to keep the money coming in while I figure out what next. My company has paid for me to see an outplacement agency, I going to see what they come up with!!

As for the trip to Goodwood and back - most excellent, although bloody COLD!!! Some great roads on the way down but we seemed to get stuck behind every tractor, bus, old woman and horse truck!

I was not sure if there would be any events on at the circuit so was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a driving experience day taking place, a plethora of expensive metal was being driven around the track at unbelievably slow speeds by people who have been given the experience as a present! That said there were some nice cars in the paddocks, to list just a few; 911 RS, 360, 355 F1, 308GTB, E Type, DB-5, Dodge Viper, AC Cobra, 'vette, Diablo and a host of others!

I have included a selection of piccies for your viewing pleasure (the green MGB is a friends who restored it from the ground up - it is truly immaculate) ..........
