Tuning HELP Needed - Green filter induction kits.....

Please dont take this the wrong way guys but dont you think it all looks a bit of a mess under the bonnet?? For the sake of a supposed couple of BHP increase which Im sure you can hardly notice?? I know that Fiat had to produce an intake that would suit all climates in all countries hot and cold and I would agree that all that plastic ducting of Fiats looks a mess but dont you think that a K&N filter in place of the cheap paper filter in the original fiat set-up would be just as effective as the green filter??
Dont get me wrong, I am all for improvements that can be justified. I am just being a little devil's advocate:)

It doesn't apply to the induction for the pre 1999 version of the Barchetta because the induction is not finished yet, but on the post 1999 models over 10bhp peak power improvement has been repeatedly reported by people having fitted the GSR induction.

The location on the Green filter on the picture is way to high up in the engine bay. Try to bring it much further down.

Mine revved (to answer KC3's question) to 7200 before adding a CDA and after.

So, no it doesn't seem normal unless you had a desperately clogged air filter.

Moving the filter lower has really changed the exhaust note.

It really sounds nice :D :D only bad thing is that it makes you want to put your foot down to hear the roar.

I have noticed that i seem to be able to take the car upto 7000revs without a problem whereas prior it would cut out before.

Is this normal ?

Mine rev's to about 7.5-ish - not that I take it that far often......

OK cheers Custard but I need to learn more about this induction kit seeing as the GSR website is not exactly very forthcoming about it!! and at £202 for the yellow version I would appreciate any comments or experiences with it??

this is the HGT

Typical peak torque increase 9Nm @ 3,800rpm (standard engine peak torque @ 4,400rpm) , typical peak power increase 12.8bhp. Power increase through rev range from 2,800rpm between 1 and 16bhp. Available in black, blue, orange, red and yellow.

so im guessing it would route the same on the B?

I have emailed GSR direct to see if I can get any more information and pictures and am awaiting a reply. That is the only pic I can find:(

Would i be correct in thinking that any hose that will fit can be used and any filter in the end.
So long as the air flow is in position too.

Could one not find suitable hoses from a breakers and off another car.?
Looks like companys are charging lots of money for somthing that could be done cheaper i guess.

Sorry but you are'ntcorrect. The entry point of the filter is only one point to consider. If you want to get a substantial power gain you have to do it right. And this means it is a bit more than just a hose. The hose has got to flow.

Making this particular hose takes between 3 and 4 hours (has got to be made by hand) and has got to be cured for at least 1.5 hours.

The hack off jobs you are suggesting from a scrap yard will most likely show worse results. If you think you can get the same results cheaper: I am happy to learn something new.

Sorry!! Didnt mean to offend anyone and certainly not knock any products.

Was only wondering if it was possible.

I would like to have the best possible induction and performance for mine.

As i imagine all the others would. :)
