Talking Re: trip to Germany, I,m back!!

WOW! i,m exausted! and to wacked to go work today.

BUT what a BUZZ!

We Drove 1240 miles in total.

Took the euro tunnel at 6.50am sunday and had to catch the return an 9.20pm sunday evening.

Never made the return, but not without trying. (130mph) got back to calais at around 11.00pm and had to wait for next availiable shuttel at 1.50 am

the journey there was great. The weather was fantastic and had the top down all the way to frankfurt.

the hard top was from a private seller who unfortunately write his B off.
but fortunately for me without the top on.

Hence! One long trip to germany and one new hard top.

I loved the motoways, and i can safely say the B done me proud.

filled her up 5 times and still got a some in the tank.

Ive never driven her fast B4 but hit 132mph on the autobahn, and think at some point might have gone a little faster.

Even i was doing the flashing at times.

Saw another B on the road,, A black one , woman driving, waved at her but she just seemed to take no notice. did get her to push hers to 115-120mph though.

HE! HE! but then she turned off.

Anyway, the B looks great with the hard top and fiitted on without no real problems, even the glass seems to fit corectly.

All in all! a great and memerable trip.!!

Checkout the pics!

Roof looks great - glad to hear that the trip went well - am considering Perpignan in the South of France in August but the trip will be in the family car not the B

I'll be there then! I'm driving to Spain via South France in my B at the end of August. Booked to stay in a nice place in Perpignan. Can't wait.

Should be quite an adventure as I've not booked anywhere else en route to Peringnon, and never been to the parts of France I aim to drive through.

Re: trip to Germany, I,m back!!

KC3, don't worry about not dropping in I guessed you'd be pushed for time, but yes another time would be great.

For the previous posts: Perpignan is very nice by the sea and you can see the mountains inland. It's not far to Andorra and the highest mainland train station in Europe. You can take the yellow train which has great views. You're not far from where Dali was born if you venture over to the Spanish border. It's a really great drive along the coast in that direction because the cliffs start and the roads are windy.

Re: trip to Germany, I,m back!!

The Languedoc-Roussillion region of France is fantastic, great scenery, superb food and wine - and the people are not bad either, a lot more accepting of the English than Northern France.

While you are there make sure you visit Carcasonne, Argeles-su-Mer, and take a trip down to Figueres for a look around the Dali museum.

I am looking to do the trip in a Picasso so as you understand am not really looking forward to the trip in the way I would if I were taking the B

Re: trip to Germany, I,m back!!

I did just that in the Barchetta in 2005. It's also a great road to drive on as you get closer to the south.

On the way south I took the bridge, and on the way north I went through the town to get some photos of the bridge.
