Panda (Classic) MK1 convertible/buggy thingey.

Panda (Classic) MK1 convertible/buggy thingey.

What an abortion...must have the torsional stiffness of a partially set jelly with those doors and no additional depth in the sills. Some good parts there and an absolute waste of a mk1.

Yes I'd seen this, but didn't really know how to describe it either!

I liked (past tense) the Strada Abarthesqe grille........ Then I zoomed the picture & it's lopsided with the bits round the lights made from old egg cartons or similar - that was the best bit too!! ;)

P.S. It's a 903cc Panda Super in green - except sadly it's not green or with that engine (neither change has been correctly notified to the DVLA - there's a surprise!), and definitely isn't Super.....

Well I like that it is crazy but I think it would need a bit of attention to make it safe. It's a death trap with the roof removed and little structural reinforcement of the chassis. The doors should be welded up to give the car it's strength back and the lights could be better mounted but I do like the twin headlight look.

Sort of a shame it's a mk1 but if it was really as rotten as described maybe this at least keeps it in a state to be enjoyed by someone. It's gone over its value in scrap though so that is good :)

I've made a few revisions the Panda Moke idea.

Rather than try to fabricate a curved top bar straight pieces and a couple of 60' bends would be easier (as I don't have access to a roll cage sized pipe bender - Dear Santa...).

Also lighter structural work around the doors using the smaller box section I bought by mistake. I bought a length of 3x2 cm instead of 3x2 inch.

Instead of using straight bar and bends on the rear hoop (like I did with Guff II).

Lucky escape for project peterborough.

Hmmmmmmm...

I could dig FrankenFiat II out of my shed and do the doors and structure properly. It's not like I'd be taking a decent Panda off the road to do it.

I like it a lot but if that strengthening metal work was done, it could end up being heavier than an original roofed version couldn't it? - And maybe less stiff too.

- In which case, I couldn't bring myself to do it just for the beach buggy looks, I don't think.

Having said that, I'm very glad other people are prepared to have a go.

OMG!!!
with just a little reserch you could find the "rock moretti"
