Informative listing that :D

Indeed :p

Is the selecta gearbox the one that Ford used in the Fiesta.?

A flexible steel belt that ate its way through a thousand and one gearboxes..?

Similar but better built. A few failed but either at about 40k or went on for ever if looked after. Same box used in the Micra until 2003 (y)

no its the one nissan used in early micras

Nope, 90% sure its the same as the one used in Micra's upto the K12 in 2003, according to what I've seen here, and the look of one I saw in a scrappy.

Clever idea though.... If you like the idea of a chainsaw in your transmission

Who's putting chainsaws in them

you mean yes then not nope, later micras had the speedgear box same as a mk2 punto, bell housing is not the same though nor the selector leaver nor the dip stick tube or the wiring loom

Hi All, I have also shown an interest in this, I wanted/NEED a cheep car to get me about for a few months while I save up the funds to get the 4x4 in to the paint shop.
The jag had to go

Before I try and buy this is there anything I should know about these gearboxes?

Is it likely to go pop at the first hill? Any checks I can do?

Make sure the gearbox oil is blood red (nice and rich in colour on the dipstick) and not a burnt red.

Also make sure the car doesn't creep in gear, or make weird noises (although a whistle / whine like feedback through a car radio is normal (y)).
