OK, can I have a bit of a review of some one who has had one?

I just need something for the next 3 months that will do about 30 miles a week tops, shops and back kinda work.

I have driven the Stilo auto and that was livable, in have driven many other autos, the last being my xj8 auto, clearly in don't expect the panda to be that refined!

I normally wouldn't look at it but its littraly down the road and hopefully cheep

ive had the same box in few puntos, but punto is too heavy for them imo, the pandas with the same box seem a lot better and more reliable/longer lasting.

i have a panda with one now but havent driven it yet, but its Ivor you must have seen the thread of how far he went on the charity run? then Austin used him as a daily for a few years,
am sure if you do the normal checks and what mep has said it will be ok.

you wont feel any gear changes, foot to the floor until you are up to the speed you need, then foot off then gently on to maintain the speed at lower revs, if it feels to be doing loads more revs for the speed its knackered

Sorry to not have taken this very seriously...I really think you should spend a bit of time with the search button on here. So much has been said about these boxes. Even last week we went through the "it doesn't creep in drive" thing.

Bottom line seems that they get to 40,000 and go bang or can last for a 100,000. Truth is like everything mechanical...you never really know.

Not at all, I really thank you for your info. why do you think its been disregarded?

I'm going to look at it in a few mins to I take note of your advice. I have done some Google work and can see how the gearbox works now.

I asked the questions as I was unsure how the box was supposed to function. i.e does it slip though gears, does it creep like auto's normally do and are there any known issues. I have this info now so that's great.
And yes, sorry I didn't use the search.

Thanks all, you have been great, just what I expected

Just been up to have a look, paint is faded (expected) with a few large scratches, there is a large dent on roof, missing rear wiper and plastics under steering wheel.

Auto fluid clean but on low side and engine oil well bellow minimum, I don't know how but the plastic cam belt case is catching on the belt when moved.

Gearbox doesn't drag and handbrake works, to be honest its a little tired and needs 4 new tiers. For the price though its a fair car.

I have put in an offer so take if from there.

Auto fluid checked hot or cold and was engine running?

:yeahthat:

The gearbox oil level is hit and miss. Should start engine (idealy when cold for ease), move gear selector from P to L a few times and then check it, As long as not below low or miles above max all should be ok. As long as its between the 2 I personally wouldn't be worried (y)

Thanks all, it was cold so I new it would be a little under.
I have just purchased "Terry" I shall call him, he has a long list of odds and sods I need to attend to which ill search and im sure fill you in on.

At the moment he smells like dead dog inside it, but its bloody great. I have just come from an xj8 and this makes me smile more... its also quick (in relative terms)

Chap seemed pretty darn descent as well :slayer:

The chap has not removed the auction for some reason, if any one on here is bidding on this please stop as its no longer for sale and I would hate to see any one upset, the seller was a really nice chap and doesn't deserve any hassle.
