still too expensive @£150.
needs a visit down the bodyshop to straighten the front end, a radiator, 1 headlight , a bumper and a VIC(£41). then application for a V5 so it can be taxed.
Basically only worth it as a freebie.
Unlucky turn of events for that poor panda.
I am not sure what has exterminated more Pandas, rust or those insurance companies?

Not true. As has been mentioned, no paint damage to any painted panels. I'm beginning to think its an easier fix than it looks. And if you've already the parts :chin:

£41 VIC and jobs a goodun.

Probably new front panel too right? which is a bit of welding (Spot). its pretty easy.... I did it once on a 4x4, had to replace wings too.

if you don't do this, your lights might be pretty wonky once you straighten the old panel, depending how bad it is.

otherwise, easy fix...

someone save it!

I have a new front panel and wings if anyone needs them. (y)

The Disclaimer :D
** Please note this description has been revised. I was informed by the guy who declared the car a write off that it was the only one in the country according to the DVLA?? Maybe he was referring to the make, model and colour?? Or maybe he was just trying to make me feel better? Anyway I cannot find evidence of this so starting price is now £150! **

End of the day from what i can see It has no bonnet rust, the arches (from what i can see are mint) and it has ONLY DONE 42'072miles!

Repair or not repair, the doors, bonnet possibly shell has to be worth more than £150 of anyone's money!

But its the cat C that taints poor little Portia :(

Fair enough except you can't get a V5 without a VIC, and can't SORN it or scrap it without the V5. Red tape central with plenty of scope for a DVLA fine for not doing what you can't do, coz they won't issue the paperwork!! Not for me (n)

You don't need V5C to scrap or SORN a vehicle ;)

According to the DVLA & Government you do need it to SORN - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/UntaxedVehicle/DG_4022058 You can apply for the V5 at the same time (another fee payable) but otherwise how do you SORN it without the vehicle being in your name?

To scrap it 2 of my local breakers insist on a V5 too - I checked recently as it came up on a car I may break (which hasn't been SORNed for years, no V5 etc). I also checked with the DVLA who say a breaker can insist on the V5 before accepting it ("for the ATF to accept & give a CoD") but wouldn't commit on the legality of breaking a car without it - presumably they don't know! I ended up paying £25 for a new V5 to SORN & potentially scrap it!!

Any further info on these 2 points Jon, as I'm working on official info? Doesn't mean there's not a work around not published of course & I'd be interested to hear what they are (y)

Just because you haven't got the V5C and it won't be issued doesn't mean the registered keeper cannot be changed - this is where I think the confusion occours (and the website for the DVLA doesn't state it).

All done in writing with DVLA Swansea, I've done it with a CAT C Megane I once purchased in 2009. Wrote to them advising of purchase date with copy of reciept signed by seller. Advised it'd be off the road.

Seller then I assume wrote to them also so that they were no longer liable for the car.

Got a letter about 3 weeks later advising they've updated their details to me being registered keeper, but couldn't issue V5C until VIC was completed.

Your not driving it enough! I put 10,000 miles on mine in under a year...

poor poor panda .... !

I purchased our first Selecta at 15 years old with 15500 miles on the clock. Drove for a year until parking her in the garage where she has sat since, and now had 31300 on the clock. I don't think the poor girl knew what hit her! lol.
