Question Is this a good buy?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-Fiat-Pand...QQcmdZViewItem

How much we talking, & how much hard work is a new gearbox going to be?

my favorite panda, but i thought they had a bonnet scoop above the vent
any 8valve fire engine gearbox should fit, so it should be easy to source

the engine yes, the car no. You would need a panda gearbox.

There's a good chance that the later Pandas shared the same gearboxes as the mk2 Uno, which will give you a few more options.

That Panda is saying "please give me a 1242 conversion"

Given the condition of the rest of the car I'd say £100 is very fair indeed. A gearbox will be around half that again, and if not fitting yourself then, what, £50 to £100 labour? So for under £300 you've got a good Panda with a decent MOT.

Sure getting a mechanically sound one is easier, but I wouldn't say it holds any more financial advantage.

but its not £100, its starting price is £100, garage is £150 ish for a new clutch, as you always do clutch if fitting a new box then she just say fit me a new clutch, and put this box back on not the old one.
