It's long been the complaint of many people here that the search engine isn't very good.

There really hasn't been much I could do about that, until now!

So introducing to you guys - the new beta search, based on technology used by Google

It's not set as the default for now, as I just want you guys to test it out - but if it gets positive feedback, then we will swap it over.

So for now - head over to https://www.fiatforum.com/threadloom.php

And enter your queries - once done, you can filter the results from either using the bar on the left (if on desktop) - or by clicking the forum names in the results themselves.

We'll try this for a week or so - before making a decision!

Tried a couple of searches and results came up pretty quickly. So looks good to me.

Did a quick try, no dramas and easy to use.

It's clearly much better!

The old one was very clunky and took patience to find anything you knew was there. This is finding things much more easily.

Ok Ben this quality I like the responce time

Just found a glitch or is it user error ! Open search ,enter subject ,search result , go to text and then try to open ! Stalls at this point , blank page!! With heading no progression .

Fantastic, will use forum instead of Google now

Not related to this thread but I have tried to raise a security issue elsewhere on this forum without any response so perhaps you can help, Ben, or pass it on to someone who can?

Unless there is a problem with my computer, the main login to the Fiat Forum home page, where you enter user name and password, appears to be compromised, as signified by a grey padlock symbol with a diagonal red line through it - indicating the connection is not secure - and has been in this state for weeks .

Please can you investigate and let me know the outcome.

Yes, the forum doesn't use ssl (https) and the newer versions of chrome report this.

Due to the way different elements are loaded, it's not justa case of enabling it and will require a lot more work.

(Mainly to do with the cdn sub domains)

That's it though, it's not a concern.

Tried again still no joy on iPhone
Does inatial seach fast then on selection of the desired thread
I get blank page with selected heading no further progress !

Yeah I am seeing tons of errors. Gimme a few hours and I'll sort it.

Should be sorted now

Seems to be working fine to me, only thing that springs to mind right away is i always like the search by user/started by user function of the old search. But if we can still get to the old search somehow I'm totally happy with the new one.. works well and nice and simple

If you click the "Advanced Search" link, then the old options will be available

This is just to replace the basic search

Fails on my touch screen on edge browser

Click on search and the pop up appears. When I tap on the text box to start typing the search box closes. Always done this. Never been able to use the search on the tablet although it works fine on a desktop.
