Agreed, so you agree that by the same token, it can be called a tent. :p
Bad assumption on your part, never have, never will love tents (or marquees).Or saving the tent.
Yes, it can be called a tent, but there's nothing wrong with calling it a marquee either.

I didn't assume you love tents as such, I said "seem to love", which means you indicated it with your keen interest and persistence of the topic on this thread.

We know you want to call it a tent, but especially if you don't even like them, maybe it's time to move on... It would just be nice to keep this topic on the subject and find someone to store it, rather than to argue about marquee vs tent. I'll leave it be at that. :)

I already agreed on that point.

It was only an observation on my part, nothing more.
We know you want to call it a tent,
That's another assumption.

I did offer.

Well a big thanks to SFB for taking the time to find out that there is indeed a different sort of tent than the one man sort. Of course I was talking about the 99.9% of tents located throughout the world where only one man (or woman ) is needed to build one, you know the sort people went camping in when they were kids. I'm pretty sure everyone including SFB knew what I was on about but then again..... So thanks again SFB for identifying the "big top circus tent" as a "tent" even though it's about as tent like as a dust cart is a rubbish truck yet are one and the same thing. Good job (y)

Thanks for your thanks, I defiantly[sic] do know the difference.

It could also be classed as a canopy, which reminds me of an auld Scottish joke:
A rich Scotsman has a canopy over his bed
A poor Scotsman has a can-o-pee under his bed
And a dead Scotsman canna pee at all

Google, Coleman events shelters, come in up to 15x15 feet and 2 meters of head room, cost about a couple of hundred quid and can be stored neatly in a relatively small space, sell the current marquee and that would more than fund one or even two of them which you could spread out on a stand and arrange the cars around them

It's not a given thing that we will always pitch up on grass. Mitcar was on tarmac ! :)

Selling it is definatly a serious option if we can't find some storage. A pop up one like your suggestion gets my vote 100% but we'll see how it pans out over the next few months. If we can get some space then we may continue with the current setup.

Sorry, can't offer any help as shipping costs would be prohibitive.

But, what about self-storage, such as Yellow Box? I`ve no idea what it might cost but it might be an option if cheap enough.

Alternatively, most removal companies have storage - you might get one local who might give you a deal.

Good luck

We have had many popups before the gala tent marquee was bought, the pop ups did not last in wind and rain even weighted down they would fold and bend.

it don't matter what people want to call it the problem of storing it is the same, it would be a great loss to lose it

If it cost £500 a time to rent a van, collect the thing and take it back again, then you can buy and bin a pop up for every event and still be saving a couple of hundred quid per event.

What you're arguing for is funds raised from members being used to Shepard an oversized tent around the country, which is money that could be used for other things the forum could very well be wasting a couple of thousand a year on this marquee.

Did anyone speak to Stu's old parish council to see if a sharing arrangement with them could've been (or could still be?) made, as their new marquee would represent a large investment for them.

As FF only need a marquee for 3 events a year, and the dates for those 3 events are known reasonably well in advance, planning around any clashes should be doable.

It doesn't cost £500 just to rent a van and ferry the marquee about, each event costs the forum around £350-500, in van hire, fuel, breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea, cups, etc, etc.
