How many people visit the marquee when its used at shows?

How many cups of coffee would need to be sold to pay for a hire tent?

Deduct the costs of van hire and fuel to move four hippos bags. It's a lot of kit to shift.

Please do explain the full economics, because I really can't see any cost benefit to keeping a club marquee for use a few times per year.

I may be able to offer storage for the marquee, but it is in West London (Kensington) which may be a logistical nightmare...

that wouldnt be too bad some one cold collect on the way down to brooklands, or some one could collect on way up to midlands shows. ben

It doesn't look much like any marquee I've ever seen, more like a tall tent.
Hardly worth the effort.
post 8 only shows it in small mode it has 2 roofs this is it up fully

most shows wont allow the sale of food and drinks that it why they are given away free by FF the marquee really makes the stand a stand rather than just a few cars in a field,it also has saved the day many time when it rains,

It's not just about the money.

Sometimes what you put in is more important than what you take out.

This forum is the great place that it is because so many folks contribute their time and experience freely without expecting anything in return. It would - and I am very serious about this - tempt me to buy another Fiat in spite of everything the manufacturer and dealerships do to put me off the brand.

Including your good self - your latest writeup on the 500/Panda axle swap is priceless and will benefit many people in the future (y).

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the costs of things or how many cups of coffee to sell or not .... Just that we need to find a place to store it as we have lost our old storage arrangement and its current location at doms house doesn't suit so it needs to go somewhere quick so we're just doing an appeal. Chances are it'll probably get sold and as of next year there may well be a lot of changes to how events are run. But for now we need storage.

the bigger shows have over 200+ FF members in attendance,

being served sausage rolls,
TEA + Coffee and donuts

we do have a "donations box" for people who don't want to spend @10 mins queueing for a £1.80 plastic cup elsewhere;)

it also proved VERY useful at Stanford when sheltering @ 150 people from the elements(y)

I have to agree, if we were catering for 30 people we'd use a different approach,
even a wind-out awning would keep the basics covered,
Charlie

I'm sure the marquee is really useful at any show and makes huge difference. I'm suggesting the FF look closely at hire costs compared to storage and transport costs of a wholly owned marquee.

I use a pair of 3m x 3m gazebos at shows I exhibit though really could use something more substantial but as the FF have found storage is a huge issue.

It was good of you to edit out the insult, thanks.

How about this for a tent?
I'd love to watch you "with one man" erect it. :p

Yes I thought I was being too hard on your halfwitted unhelpful post so removed it but seen as though you persist on wasting space on here with even more useless comments (that's not a tent btw I don't care what it says) then here it is back again nice and bold for you

Stop talking rubbish (y)

We are defiantly open to options (y) as it stands I believe it costs roughly £500 per event if we use the bbq. Not sure on how much marquee hire is but the advantage is that they do put them up for you which is defiantly a plus in my book. Luckily we have a good six months or so to find a solution. It all comes down to Ben at the end of the day but I hadn't thought of hiring one so well worth a though :)

You can rent a council garage for about £600pa.

It defiantly needs looking into. Tbh I think that's what will happen. One issue is where in the country because someone will have to go get it

If we end up buying a pop up one then it could be kept at someone's house. I don't mind holding on to other things like tables and stuff just can't transport a marquee on top of a 126 :D

Where's your sense of adventure ?

Guess what, even in the UK it can be classed as a tent:
Check this "tent" out:

The official definition for a marquee is a large tent. So yes, it can be classed as a tent, but the forum has a large one, hence why it can be called a marquee.

As much as you seem to love tents, this thread isn't a definition dispute, it's about saving the marquee.

Unfortunately, I won't have any space for something like this, but I hope we can find somewhere for it soon!

Agreed, so you agree that by the same token, it can be called a tent. :p

Bad assumption on your part, never have, never will love tents (or marquees).

Or saving the tent.
Defiantly is an adverb that is linked to the noun defiance which is defined as "bold disobedience." It is one thing to behave badly and hope to get away with it. It is quite another to want to be seen behaving badly — that's action done defiantly: it defies, or openly goes against an order or rule.

Would be a real shame to lose the marquee!! Wish I could offer help but living in a flat and having a tiny garage with a car and stuffed full of car parts I really haven't got the space either... Must be some long term member with a unit or lock-up or something!!

And SFB cut it out, go and annoy your neighbour or something.
