EVENTS

So as a Forum we do the usual AutoItalia @ Brooklands, AutoItalia @ Stanford Hall and of course MITCAR.

Sadly due to it being unfeasible AutoItalia have decided to not do Stanford Hall this year.

So, we have decided to ask the membership (YOU!) what do you want from an event?

Now is your time to tell us what YOU want from an event. However daft you may think it is, it could be a great idea so get commenting below!

Thanks in advance,
FF Event Staff

What about that place we all went to after prodrive the other year for a bit meet up / BBQ in the summer around the time of Stanford?

I can't believe its been stopped, was one of the best shows of the year, only started dwindling in numbers due to price increases year on year imo.
And last year the weathe Was poor so many didn't show. But when it's nice we get massive numbers.

shame about Stanford hall , enjoyed that one .
There is a car show at the bakewell showground , Derbyshire 16/17 th July , it is multi car event though not just Italian .

It's quite bumps and very hilly there wasn't it iirc?

Yeah I've seen that one floating around facebook, but we're looking for ideas on what you want in terms of us starting up a new show, by the forum for italian car owners.

Thoresby Hall have some nice classic and Mini shows and a great venue. We have had a small Panda & a smattering of others presence there on a few occasions. I'm sure in previous years they used to do a Mini/classic show on Mayday bank holiday, a Japanese/classic show in June and another Mini/classic show on August bank holiday (often clashes with Mitcar). This year I see they are rolling the Jap & Mini shows over the Sunday and Monday of the May bank holiday so maybe some potential for a slot in June?? Reasonably central in Nottinghamshire, near Ollerton.

+1 for this, its a cracking venue, maybe a word with the organisers could get an Italian day sorted like the Jap day you mentioned?

I want a midland based Italian event towards the end of June/ early July on a Sunday. Somewhere like Stanford hall. Oh wait...

Don't forget MITCAR (y) that's midland based

I agree for me it was the best on the calendar but It just got progressively worse over the last 3 years. Aside from the price increase I think the nail got firmly hammered into the coffin when they made it a "summer classic" event meaning other non Italian cars could join in. When that happened they lost Ferrari (who didn't want to be a part of it) and a good few other clubs too along with the trade stands :( sad really as it was a great turnout for us being so central.

Rest assured whatever you decide to do you will never please all of the folks so you will at best end up with a compromise . For me AutoItalia at Brooklands is the most outstanding event and for anyone who has never been there it is something that you should do at least once in your lifetime. Take away the extensive attractions of the Brooklands museum and the stunning Mercedes World then you end up with a Stamford Hall type event which is like a nice park , a big house that you can't visit but Italian cars and owners. Judging by the number of cars that the FF manage to get up on the banking at Brooklands then I would think that the FF could promote its own event. Tagging onto an existing event is a good way to go and with sometimes you can get free entry and camping when required.

Fair points and I'm sure Brooklands is lovely but it's a bit far south for some of us, and since we previously had Brooklands and Stanford hall, Brooklands isn't really a substitute for Stanford hall. I'm pretty sure Brooklands will carry on quite happily as it is.
